Many clients I've seen have healed from emotional neglect, people-pleasing, sexual assault, CPSTD, and anxiety.
You feel you need to be perfect to be good enough, but all you want is to be seen and heard. Always saying "yes" to others has left you disconnected from your true self. Your body holds the tension of unmet needs and your mind replays the past on repeat. You feel anxious and stuck, trapped in a cycle of people-pleasing that drains your energy. Imagine waking up one day feeling lighter, joyful, and stepping into your power. We'll work together to help you rewrite limiting beliefs, connect deeply with your body, and reclaim your intuition.

Often clients ask me how therapy helps you to feel better, or make lasting changes in how you handle life’s curve balls. Relief from emotional pain and progress on changes you want to make is because of the unique, safe, nonjudgmental relationship that develops with a skilled therapist. It’s about the fit. You need to feel the therapist “gets” you and understands your world. And the therapist needs to have the knowledge and skills to work on what ails you. While I may not be the perfect therapist for every situation, I strive to understand every client.

Making the first call is sometimes the hardest part of the therapeutic process. I commend you for your strength and courage in seeking help. One of the most important steps of pursuing counseling is finding a passionate, knowledgeable, and trusting therapist that you feel comfortable with. One that will sit with you through your difficult moments and help you to recognize or remind you of your strength. If a mood disorder is taking control of your life, I can help you to learn how to manage it. If you are experiencing challenges with your significant other(s) I can help you to improve the connection, understanding, and intimacy.

In a time where our world is constantly changing, it can feel hard to keep up and maintain control. I am a firm believer that our mental health has a large impact on how we feel about ourselves and the world around us. Finding someone you trust to discuss how you feel is the first step in regaining control of not only your health, but your happiness, too.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
