Are you questioning whether or not end your relationship because it feels "maddening" that you're not understood or respected and you just don't know how much longer you can take it? Do you feel like you've tried everything to "reach" your partner and it works for a few days, maybe a week and your back to feeling, "should I stay, should I go?" I truly understand this can seem impossible or they may seem impossible and you don't even know why you should work on it. You might even feel like you don't want to work on the relationship but think you should. This type of situation happens much more often than any us would like to admit.

Not accepting new clients
My approach to counseling is mainly from a person-centered, non-authoritative style that allows clients to process, discover, and find their own solutions. By fostering a non-judgmental space; clients are met where they are and viewed as the experts in their lives. Through various evidence based techniques of counseling, clients are empowered to challenge internal thinking processes and motivated to create positive change. As clients discover how to utilize their inner strengths to bring about these transformations, autonomy increases, and independence is fortified.

If you’re here searching through profiles, you might be going through a particularly hard time. Perhaps you are walking through a challenging life experience or you’re feeling unsettled or overwhelmed without an obvious reason. Sometimes we can name exactly what we need support with or want to work on; other times you might have trouble with anxiety symptoms, sleep, low energy, or feeling tearful without knowing why. In either case we deserve relief and to live with more overall ease. Healing isn't just about fixing problems, it's about creating a life that has meaning and joy!

I focus on a holistic approach to therapy, looking not only at the mind and psychotherapy but also how nutrition, sleep, biology, naturopathic medicine, and how our body responds to the environment affects your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
Have life’s challenges gotten you to the point of anxiety or depression? Has there been a trauma or something that has caused a shift in your life? Are you a parent that has a child or teen that is struggling to keep their head above water? Are you searching for meaning in life or are you struggling with your faith in the midst of adversity? Are you looking for a holistic approach to therapy? If so, then I’d be honored to help! We are not created as one-sided, but are multi-faceted. Because of this, I am a board-certified holistic psychologist, certified integrative and licensed counselor, and certified natural health professional.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
