I have a calm, patient approach to therapy with all clients; this approach is especially helpful for clients who have difficulties navigating life after trauma. I understand the importance of working with each client as an individual at the pace he or she feels most comfortable. Helping each client identify his or her strengths or positive attributes and applying those into challenging areas of life helps keep each client motivated. Taking time to work on small goals building to larger goals is also very important to avoid discouragement.

As an experienced and licensed mental health counselor, the barriers to achieving your strongest desires are often minimized by false narratives you may have unintentionally adopted. We'll establish new tools and therapeutic skills to address challenges head-on. Then we'll craft a tailor-made action plan that empowers you to move in the right direction. You will find that our sessions are judgment-free zones where you can indeed be seen and heard.

Mental health is not a destination, it is a journey” While life can be filled with challenges and stressors you do not have to navigate it alone. As a mental health therapist I value collaborating (co-piloting) with my clients on reaching their therapy goals by providing a space to process their emotions and form healthier coping strategies to overcome life’s turbulence.

My dedication to improving the lives of those around me led me to pursue a career in therapy. With a Master’s in Social Work from National University and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University, I have cultivated a strong academic foundation in therapeutic practices and social welfare. My professional experience spans over seven years, including five years in child welfare and two years as a MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) Coordinator. These roles have allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex issues that individuals face, from childhood through adulthood.

Do you desire a rich, full life but find that life's difficulties, personal emotional issues and unresolved past or present conflicts get in the way? There is hope! Everyone has the capacity for healing and to make the changes they desire. Inherent in each person is the ability to 'live life better' and understanding 'what makes you tick' is key. My desire is to work hand in hand with you...whether it requires working through the past, being mindful of the present or preparing for the future so that you can process and develop the life you desire.

Hello! I’m excited and grateful to help couples and families find a path towards healing and understanding each other. Strengthening relationships and growing bonds that can withstand life’s hurdles is so important to your mental health. If you’re having trouble talking with your partner, or feel like you’re having the same conversation with no solution, this is the place to start. For Caregivers, if you’re overwhelmed with tantrums and can’t seem to get your child(ren) to listen to you, I can help you build skills to solve those problems.

Life's unexpected twists and turns can leave us feeling lost, but having someone who offers support without judgment can make all the difference. Creating a safe haven where individuals can freely express their emotions is both an honor and a privilege. If you're facing challenges and feel stuck, know that you don't have to go through it alone. As a former Army soldier and an Air Force spouse, I understand the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany life's "hurry up and wait" moments. I believe this shouldn't extend to mental health—we deserve proactive support.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
