Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), a treatment modality that has been extensively researched and shown to be effective for the treatment of trauma as well as treatment-resistant depression and anxiety.
I have been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in South Florida since 2010. Clients who have had negative experiences with therapy in the past have described me as “the therapist for people who think they hate therapy.” I have a laid-back style and I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure they are getting what they need out of therapy. My therapeutic approach focuses on the mind-body connection. I teach clients to evaluate how mood can be affected by food, sleep habits and physical movement, as well as genetics, thought processes, and trauma.

I am currently a registered intern with the state of Florida and an EMDRIA-approved EMDR specialist.
Do you struggle with a challenging relationship, loss of a sense of self, or trauma that affects your life, relationships, or ability to function at home or at work? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and frustrated by what it means to live up to someone else’s standards? Now more than ever, people are feeling overwhelmed about overcoming difficult relationships, working through loss, and finding their place in life, or maybe moving past a traumatic event. It shouldn’t be so hard to live better. People can change and there is hope.

Using practices like meditation, EMDR, parts work, and somatic therapy, I empower individuals to regain trust and safety within themselves.
It is my passion to support clients in finding their way home and returning to Self. Our experiences, stressors, inability to cope, and traumas can lead to an internal disconnect. You may be frightened or overwhelmed by what you are experiencing and unsure of what will bring relief. Seeking therapy offers power in navigating these uncertainties. We are hardwired to need connection and to heal in community. I empower clients to discover and embody authenticity, fostering self-acceptance, confidence, joy, curiosity, and passion for life. I'm not here to fix you, but rather to support, educate, hold space, and honor your wisdom.

Are you having problems communicating with your child? Is your child struggling at school or socially? When working with children and teens, it usually involves self-esteem and efficacy problems, often rooted in family dynamics or an inability to get needs met. This is confounded by learning difficulties. I work with those families and individuals having problems with getting their needs met through healthy channels. Often screening or testing identifies areas of treament focus,or the need for speech, occupational or learning specialists.

On the outside, you look like you have it all together, but on the inside you feel like you are falling apart. You give 100% at work and in your relationships, but you still feel like you aren’t good enough. It’s been so long since you put yourself first. Instead, you’re constantly worried about even the smallest details and you’ve been focusing exclusively on others, bending over backwards to please all the people in your life, hoping that one day it will be reciprocated and lead to happiness.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
