I received advanced training in mental health and adventure therapy. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral and EMDR therapies . I concentrate in the treatment of depression,anxiety, PTSD, personal growth, relationship issues, adjustment to life transition, grief, loss,and bipolar.I am an EMDR provider treating adult patients for relief from: trauma, abuse, anger, guilt, grief, anxiety, depression, PTSD and other emotional issues. She has 11 years’ experience helping individuals three years and older adversely affected by abuse, neglect, and trauma. She has helped people with depression, anxiety, anger issues, life transitions, couple’s issues, and addictive/compulsive behaviors. Karen is certified in Integrative Medicine for Mental Health to help clients improve their mental health holistically. She completed her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida and her Master of Science in mental health counseling from Capella University.

I have come to believe that early intervention is the most valuable approach to achieving a balance in one's mental health. I have spent the last several years serving in the emergency rooms of an adult hospital and a children's hospital. Many times I found myself wishing they would have come for help much earlier.

I understand it takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach out for support. I work with college students, young professionals and adults who are seeking relief from difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or the impacts of trauma. My professional interests also include identity development and emerging adulthood, relationship concerns, grief and loss, and coping with adjustments and transitions. In therapy, I help you develop self-compassion and personal insight so you can let go of shame and fear, and start building a life worth living.

I support clients who want to better connect to themselves, their emotions, their values, and their body. Because this type of identity work typically happens in early adulthood, I tend to work with folks 18-40. Often, but not always, my work involves understanding and managing anxiety, depression, the impact of trauma, stress, relationships, pregnancy/parenting transitions, and sexuality & gender identity.

We all have moments in life when circumstances just become overwhelming. Most often we bounce back on our own & get back to a state of normalcy. However, there are times when life throws so much at us, it is more than we can handle on our own. It takes such a toll on our emotional and physical health that we can't seem to just ‘shake it off.’ In these times, we often struggle to find effective treatment that will get us recalibrated and back to living our best lives.
