I offer psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, and families, and psychological / psycho-educational evaluations for children and adolescents.
Whether you have concerns about yourself or your child, setting up a free phone consultation is a great way to get some answers about your therapy needs and to see if we are a good therapeutic fit. I am a psychologist specializing in the treatment of adults, children, teens, and families. Are you unsure if you or your family needs therapy or testing? Are you concerned that your child may have ADHD, dyslexia, or autism? Do they need accommodations in the classroom or on high stakes tests such as the SAT, ACT? If so, your child would benefit from a psychological evaluation, which can help you better understand how they learn best.

If you’re looking for these types of testing, give me a call to discuss your needs!.
You may be here because you’re feeling down, stuck, or lost. Maybe you're trapped in a web of worry, struggling with irritability or anger, or feeling depressed or numb. Whether you’ve faced a life-changing event or you're struggling with daily stresses that pile up, I want you to know that you’re not alone. You’re in the right place, and therapy can help. I welcome adults, teens, children, and families for therapy in my office in South Miami. For adults, I also offer online therapy (you may have heard the term "teletherapy") using video conference, so if you live elsewhere in Florida or have a busy schedule, help is still in reach.

My approach to therapy is characterized by openness, compassion, appropriate humor, and educational support, all provided with impartiality. Finding a therapist with whom you can connect and trust can be challenging. I recognize the hesitation one may feel in confiding in a stranger, addressing issues they've never shared before. My aim is to establish comfort and trust from the outset, fostering a professional environment where clients feel at ease. Whether you seek a non-judgmental listener or are facing overwhelming challenges, counseling has the potential to help you achieve the life you desire.

I also do comprehensive psychological evaluations with children and adolescents who have academic and emotional difficulties.
Emotional pain goes by various labels--anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, unrewarding relationships, addiction, etc--but it has common pathways. Otherwise there would be no treatment for it. No one wants to feel pain. It hurts, by definition. But can you use your emotional pain to motivate yourself to address the the issues that cause it in the first place? Can you learn to reflect, understand, and respond versus react to your pain and flee from it? It takes time, but re-training your thinking and behavior can yield valuable benefits if you're willing to invest in yourself.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists

What is a psychological evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?

Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?

Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?

Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
