My passion is working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, grief and chronic mental and physical illness. Navigating life's most difficult chapters can take all of your emotional resources and still leave you feeling unfulfilled, anxious, and exhausted. I work with my clients to help them reflect and gain insight into how they can create behavioral and thought patterns, as well as relationship dynamics, that better serve them. Let's work together to build a road map and a skill set towards attaining a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with yourself, your loved ones, and your life goals.

Grief and loss is my speciality.
"Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity." -Pema Chodron. From this place of compassion, I embrace a collaborative approach in therapy to help you address current life challenges, explore lifelong patterns, and/or develop areas for personal growth. I see adolescents and adults.

I find it deeply rewarding to work with people who are seeking help to deal with ordinary and extraordinary stressors, depression, anxiety, issues of grief and loss, life transitions, and/or mental illness.
Many of us today are finding life’s challenges overwhelming, and may be feeling unsettled and anxious, or down and depressed. We may feel that our relationships are suffering, or that our deeper traumas have been triggered, making it difficult to cope.

Do you feel ruled by your thoughts or emotions, out of touch with who you want to be, or as though your life goals seem to be drifting just beyond your reach? Life can frequently feel overwhelming; family, business, and personal relationships can present endless challenges leading us to feel frustrated, anxious, alone, and grasping to control the world around us. As life changes, we may feel flooded by simultaneous feelings of joy & grief. Adjusting to change can be difficult in all stages of life regardless of our age and sometimes we need help getting back on course.

I specialize in working with children and adolescents who are facing various life stressors, such as parental divorce, military families, grief/loss, abuse, and other forms of trauma/life transitions.
Sometimes life has mountains, and sometimes life has valleys. Sometimes when you are in the valley, it feels like you will never get out. Maybe your family is in a valley right now, or maybe your child's mental health is becoming so severe that they feel like they will never get out. And it may seem that way! But there is HOPE. I am a child therapist who believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and its role in producing change. And I am absolutely a believer that there is always hope.

Using a contemporary psychodynamically-oriented approach, I work with those struggling with relationship and family issues, parenting difficulties, divorce, trauma, unresolved grief, loss, anxiety and depression, among other issues.
I think as human beings we want to feel seen, heard, appreciated, respected, loved, and valued. I believe most of us want to make a difference in the lives of those around us, our loved ones, friends and community. Making a difference and enjoying healthy and gratifying relationships and contributing to one's community can take many forms but they all involve relationships. If you find yourself feeling deeply unhappy, confused and dissatisfied in any of your relationships, I'd like to learn more about you and what you are seeking in your life and in your relationships.

I've been helping people rescue themselves from trauma, addiction, grief, despair and fear since 2015.
You lost something important to you and your world has never been the same. Maybe you know exactly what happened. Maybe it happened so long ago, you can't remember the details. Either way, you're haunted by the ghost of a better life. It always seems to be just out of reach. Something needs to change, you can feel it in your bones. But every time you start to move in the right direction, things fall apart. Sometimes you wonder if you're doomed to feel this miserable and broken for the rest of your life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
