Do you feel anxious, sad, worried, overwhelmed, or stressed? Do you have difficulty coping with life challenges? Do you find getting through the day to day activities of life more strenuous lately? It can be isolating to not only feel painful emotions, but difficult to relate to those in our lives when we’re not feeling like ourselves, leaving us feeling more alone. That’s where therapy can help. I’m a therapist who listens, seeks to understand your experience, and supports you with tools to help you feel better. I’m a CBT Certified Beck Clinician and EMDR trained; two well-researched modalities with proven results.

I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), an evidenced-based modality used to treat various forms of trauma.
I believe a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can feel heard and validated is the epitome of a therapeutic relationship that promotes healing, self-worth, and positivity. For 9+ years I've worked with children, teens, adults, and families who have fought with depression, anxiety, self-esteem/self-worth, guilt & shame, attachment issues, and trauma. Whether it's simply expanding your coping skills, to more specialized trauma work, I'd love to be a part of your journey! I offer both in-person and virtual services.

As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I have witnessed healing from past traumas and attachment injuries.
Although I’ve climbed mountains in Hawaii with breathtaking views, nothing is more beautiful than seeing God’s work in someone’s story. I am honored to witness healing and changed lives daily. My approach to counseling begins with understanding my client’s beliefs and life experiences. We then collaborate to create personalized goals and solutions. I admire your bravery in reaching out for help and prioritizing your own overall wellbeing.

I specialize in EMDR, and I have worked with clients ranging from children as young as age 5, to late adulthood that suffer from a wide array of concerns: Anxiety, ADHD, addiction, Bipolar I and II, comorbid disorders, depression, PTSD and trauma.
My ideal client wants to be an active player in his or her own treatment. They want a therapist who will not only be there for them, but who will also give them the tools they need to proactively change their lives for the better. I'm here to change lives, not just be a sounding board. All clients are deserving of respect and unconditional positive regard, but there comes a time when you are going to take action, or stay stuck in the muck that brought you to therapy to begin with. I'm going to meet you where you're at, and I'm also going to push you to make that positive change in your life. Staying stuck isn't an option with me!

Along with EMDR, I utilize mindfulness, ego state work, and polyvagal theory for example to help individuals.
So many people are struggling right now for so many different issues. Some people are dealing with issues from the past and some are experiencing tragedy in the present. I work with people in a warm, welcoming, judge free zone to help them feel heard and accepted. The techniques I utilize help people to learn about their struggles and begin to think about things differently which in turn changes responses and behavior.

Now offering Accelerated Resolution Therapy (a type of eye movement therapy, similar to EMDR) to treat your symptoms.
5 star Google rating! Symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma can leave us feeling stuck and alone, stop us from living the life we want and negatively impact our relationships. Thoughts and feelings related to anxiety, depression and trauma can make us feel like we aren't good enough, worried, afraid & stuck. Physical symptoms of anxiety (pounding heart, difficulty breathing, etc.) can leave us feeling terrified and wondering, "What is going on with me?". Constantly feeling tense, exhausted, stressed, worried and disconnected does not have to be your normal.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
