I work with ages 15 and up with a variety of concerns such as anxiety, chronic illnesses, OCD, grief, and depression.
Breaking out of cycles that keep you feeling stuck is no easy feat. Today's society is flooded with "tips and tricks" that seem so simple but do not lead to real, lasting change. You will not find a 'cookie cutter' approach here. I see each individual as the expert of their own life and utilize individual strengths to customize treatment. Together, we will work to figure out changes to make so you can live life in the most authentic and genuine way for YOU.

My husband and I have one spoiled dog, Bo, a boxer-hound mix, who brings lots of laughter to our home.

I treat depression, anxiety disorders, trauma/PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship problems, and grief-related issues.
Life is difficult. This is the first line from the book, The Road Less Travelled, by M. Scott Peck. Each of us is all too aware of this basic truth. Sometimes we need help navigating our journey, and therapy is a great place to start! Building strong relationships with my clients provides a safe space to explore their life experiences, thoughts, and feelings. I aim to create an understanding and respectful environment where we can discover the most effective means for positive change.

Being able to talk with someone helps with stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, grief/ loss and relationship issues.
I work with a lot of men who are balancing work and relationships. I see clients who are overwhelmed in their jobs, frustrated with demands coming from so many people and places. Sometimes a partner insists on the need for counseling! Kids, teens, or even adult children can be a source of stress. And then there are the teens I see whose home-life, school, or relationship pressures stress them out. Others are in the second half of life, or may be feeling the pain of divorce or loss. There is definitely hope! I’ll work with you as you need it, giving you a space to talk about things you’re facing in your life, and offering coaching.

“Life is Difficult”. One of my favorite opening sentences from M. Scott Peck’s book, The Road Less Traveled. But…it does not always have to be. I applaud and welcome anyone seeking help with therapy and embrace the opportunity in getting to know, witness, and work with you as we join in this process and journey together. I am honored to work with clients who are willing to challenge life's situations to find that road less traveled. I have worked extensively with addiction(s), dual diagnosis, trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, women's issues, relationships, codependency, parenting, and life changes.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
