A graduate of NYU with over 20 years of experience helping people achieve their goals in therapy, I use a cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approach.
Symptoms related to anxiety, depression and anger have a tremendous impact on a person's life. If you feel that these behaviors have been been in control long enough and you are ready to take the first step in gaining a fulfilling and satisfying sense of self, you are on your way to change. Together, we can establish realistic and progressive treatment goals in an environment that feels safe and supportive.

Private practice in West Palm Beach Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Relationships, Grief & Loss, Mood Disorders, and Physical, Sexual, Emotional abuse with adults and adolescents.
Has your emotional pain reached a critical point? Do you feel more anxious and scared lately? Do you need guidance dealing with a specific issue in your life? Are you feeling overwhelmed with sadness and loneliness? I provide both brief therapy (1-12 sessions) with a very specific focus and long-term therapy to address deeper, underlying issues. Coming to therapy is often viewed as a weakness. I appreciate how risky and anxiety ridden it can feel to open up to a complete stranger. In my professional experience, coming to therapy requires a great deal of courage and determination, deliberately and consciously facing yourself.

Are you looking for exceptional therapy? Are you finding it difficult to call? It is sometimes not easy to take the first step toward beginning therapy. For some it is about having thought they could do it themselves, for others they think it is a sign of weakness, and yet others sometimes worry about using therapy as a crutch. Then there are those who can hardly wait to begin, perhaps begin again, with a new and different therapist, eager to enter the journey of self discovery and self improvement. All this is normal. Either way, you will feel understood and cared for.

OCD is a heavy burden. And it feels even heavier when nothing seems to help, including therapy. Maybe you feel that OCD is just something you have to tolerate for the rest of your life. I don’t believe that “coping” is your only option. I believe OCD is treatable. And I believe you can make deep-seated and long-lasting change. Together, we’ll look beyond your diagnosis and subtype, and understand the beliefs that maintain the OCD in your life. This can be daunting, but I’ll be there with you every step of the way offering guidance and support.

All of us, over the course of our lives, have found ourselves faced with challenging life events - some small and others so much bigger than ourselves that we become overwhelmed and unable to face them alone. We may experience feelings of grief, loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflicts, marital strife, illness, or addiction to mention a few. However, what is most important is that we not face these alone, and remember there is help and relief. Each one of us has a sense of resiliency to meet our life challenges - even in our worst times. Finding that resiliency is the beginning to healing and living our best lives.

Most of us have learned that “there are no free passes in life.” We are all vulnerable to life’s curveballs. But sometimes we get tired of fielding them by ourselves. That’s where I come in…. Perhaps you, or a loved one, is struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, or abuse, among other concerns. It does not matter how overwhelming the problem is, healing and growth are always possible. We will work collaboratively by combining your knowledge of the situations you confront, with my professional experience in the healing process of counseling. You’ll see - the possibilities are remarkable.

I am a seasoned clinician who also specializes in Narcissistic relationships and healing. But I also have years of successfully treating individuals and couples using my education, skills and compassion to help my clients heal and thrive. Issues such as depression, divorce, anxiety, trauma, substance and porn addiction, attachment and abandonment issues, social anxiety, low self-esteem etc can be healed. This is also a challenging time for relationships. Many couples are dealing with relationships that have digressed to roommates, others dealing with the pain of divorce. Restart your life, restart your relationships.

Most therapy approaches focus on understanding ourselves intellectually, thereby engaging the left side of our brain. Yet, sustainable change happens through whole-mind integration, where the body, brain, as well as relational field are parts of the healing process. Using a blend of Somatic Experiencing®, Trauma and Attachment Therapy, Depth Psychology, and Dream Analysis, Somatic Counseling offers the body and psyche the support needed to discharge, renegotiate and reorganize locked-in fight, flight and freeze responses that are stored in the nervous system. A process that is compassionate and respectful to your needs and rhythm.

In the broadest terms, my practice centers on the idea of helping you to establish or restore greater authenticity--a more authentic voice, space of desire and trajectory of drive/motivation. This can be addressed through more short-term approaches that focus primarily on the present, or a deeper approach that considers and works through past experiences as they inevitably impact the present in ways not always available to consciousness. By uncovering these occluded forces left over from the past and lingering in the present, you will be able to develop broader insight and live more fully with greater intention.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
