Life is full of transitions, and it can be difficult to navigate life changes. Do you feel frustrated, alone, misunderstood, or sad due to family conflict, an unfulfilling romantic relationship, low self esteem, stress, or parenting your children? Relationships can be complicated, and it is disheartening to feel stuck in situations that cause anxiety, sadness, or stress. Tension can build even more if you have a child or teen who is struggling with their behavior or emotions. This can negatively affect school, work, or home life. It takes courage to reach out for professional help.

Licensed in Florida and Arizona. Certified Eating Disorders Specialist with focus on nonsuicidal self-injury, anxiety and trauma. Everyone deserves peace in their lives but oftentimes people experience fear and self-doubt from difficult experiences related to invalidating environments. I have had the dream of becoming a therapist since I was in high school and I am grateful to be living that dream. My counseling approach involves genuineness, fostering self-compassion and instilling empowerment for those I work with. It would be a privilege to hear what led you to therapy and assist you in your journey toward healing yourself.

As one ages, one experiences the "Winds of Change". Some of us experience these changes in our lives one at a time, and others experience a world wind that may take our breath away. As a therapist that concentrates on Holistic remedies, I find that many of us are not able to handle all of the changes that may occur at one time, which may leave us feeling depressed and/or anxious. However, during this state of "change" is it actually depression and/or anxiety... or is it a result of what has or is occurring in our lives?

Whether it is infidelity, relationship issues, grief, and/or anxiety, my goal is to use my training as a counselor along with life experience to help guide clients toward healing and connection. I bring a client-centered approach that focuses on acceptance and understanding to my practice. Cheryl Strayed stated and I also believe, "That place of true healing is a fierce place. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist and have been practicing for over 10 years. I am here to help you through the difficult parts of your life, whether you are an adult or a teenager. You might not understand where your feelings are coming from or why they have come to surface now. I can help you explore the core of these feelings and then accompany you on your journey to self-healing and growth. I am eclectic in the types of therapy I use, but I am often drawn to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, to help you reach your goals. I also do telehealth therapy in Florida and Oregon.

People come to my office with hopes of experiencing some sort of positive change. I see my role as creating the environment for change to happen. I view my work with people as collaborative. In other words, the counselor and client work together to set goals and develop the means to meet these goals. I hope to make the person sitting across from me in my office realize that they are their most important resource for making life “work”.

I would love to talk with you about how we can work together! I will support you during sessions so that you better understand how you experience life, resulting in feeling more comfortable as you approach challenges. I work with adults, teens, and children. I have spent my career learning how to find the best approach that feels right for each person. For adults this often includes getting to know yourself better with increased compassion. For children, I support learning new ways to reduce childhood stressors and acting out behaviors, often through play. This results in positive feelings between parents and their children.

Do you feel like you’re not being heard by your partner? Or not appreciated? Whether aimed at addressing small issues or dealing with potentially relationship-breaking challenges, therapy can help you each feel valued, heard, and connected. In a non-judgmental, supportive environment I meet with couples or individuals online from all over Florida, in the privacy of their own homes. We dive deep into the issues that are creating anger, hurt, or frustration. I help the couple or individual turn conflict into an opportunity for self-growth. The process is virtually identical to the work done in the office.

We all have the need to be loved, accepted, and heard. We are all humans under construction, trying to make it through our day-to-day as best we can, and that takes work! My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where you do not feel judged, can openly express yourself, and begin "doing the work." Therapy is an opportunity to self-reflect, challenge oneself, and grow individually and interpersonally. My hope is to develop a strong relationship with my clients and help them on their path to personal growth and wellness.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
