Marriage can be a challenge. Maybe you’re struggling to communicate well, have frequent or repetitive arguments, emotional disconnection, or lack of physical intimacy or affection. Maybe trust has been broken, you disagree about money management, or your approach to parenting is different. Maybe stress is overwhelming. Maybe your own mental health is interfering in your relationship. Regardless of the challenge, you’re in the right place. As a Christian couples counselor, I offer more than just psychological insights; I provide a pathway to spiritual and emotional healing for couples and individuals.

I also provide Christian counseling! I enjoy, traveling, going to church, spending time with family.
Hello, My name is Caprice Smith and I am a Licensed Therapist. I offer both in person and virtual sessions. I am a native of Saint Petersburg Florida and I graduated from Florida State University. Growing up in a minority community I discovered that mental health treatment was not received well & often overlooked. I then made it my mission to change the face of mental health biases.

I particularly enjoy providing Christian-based counseling, as that is an important part of who I am.
Hello! Does it seem overwhelming and maybe a little bit odd to be searching for a therapist? I get it! My name is Sonja (rhymes with "lasagna"). I enjoyed working with children and their families for 15 years and then transitioned to the medical field. My husband and I have one spoiled dog, Bo, a boxer-hound mix, who brings lots of laughter to our home.

I offer Christian counseling that focuses on resolving excessive guilt, shame, toxic faith, perfectionism, legalism, and those wounded in the ministry.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the states of Florida and Indiana. I facilitate the spiritual, mental and emotional healing process through talk therapy. I believe my gift, in the counseling relationship, is that I help others see things for themselves. I also have a Christian world view which guides my interaction with others. I am a compassionate, non judgmental, "Wounded healer". I have had to work through challenging issues in life like anyone else. I do not condemn nor condone; I treat.

Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked with individuals and families in the context of pastoral counseling, family therapy, and clinical practice providing an evidence-based approach that is uniquely Christian in foundation and principle.
Welcome to my profile. Navigating the uncertainties of life can be extremely challenging. During times of crisis, we often feel the added pressure to have all of the answers and to be decisive. It’s hard to “carry the weight of the world” when things are unraveling. My passion is to bring hope and healing to those that are hurting. I believe that the best therapy is non-judgmental and relevant. I promise to meet you where you’re at and provide you with an anchor of stability while working together to find the path of restoration and renewal.

Couples often feel stuck and find it difficult to move forward. Life has a way of doing that. We often ask ourselves, "How did we get here?" It could be a host of reasons. Talking to someone can help you identify the things that's affecting your relationship. I know the stigma that surrounds counseling, but don't let the words, "counseling and therapy," deter you from strengthening your relationship. Men we often find it challenging to talk about our problems. And sometimes it takes another man to get it. I want to empoweru, I want to help you get unstuck. What's impossible with man, is possible with God! Call me today.

Have you lost sight of who you are after having a hard childhood, toxic relationship, or just a hard life? Do you wonder "what would I be like if I didn't go through that?" Maybe there is a part of you that's not sure if you're too far gone, too messed up, too broken, to find healing and feel better. Imagine if you could start understanding the "why" behind what you think, feel, and do and learn the "how" you can get to a place of clarity, confidence, and feeling in control. I believe that you don't have to be defined by what happened to you. We can find the real you beneath the survival mode version you had to be to get this far.

Counseling is the process of recognizing our pain and hurt (past and present), understanding the effects of that pain and hurt (as it relates to relationships, work, school, etc.), and making the necessary changes to stop the pain and hurt, and also promoting mental and emotional wellness. Psychologist Carl Jung once said, “I am not what happened to me, I am what I chose to become.” With that in mind, the hope and plan is to move towards one’s ideal, true self; moving from feeling stuck to feeling empowered.

Many of us have experienced traumatic situations which have left a negative imprint within us, and consequently feelings of guilt, shame, fear, anxiety, depression and despair. While we can repress the effects of these traumatic events and their accompanying symptoms; it will only be temporary, since failure to process these incidents will generate in us different types of emotional disorders that will rob us of our quality of life.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by new responsibilities or unsure how to stay connected with your partner amidst the chaos, I’m here to help. Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
