I am trained in highly researched trauma treatments like RTM, EMDR & ART.
My approach to counseling is based on the integration of my professional psychological training and personal experience. I personally have overcome abuse and addictions in my own life. I believe we were created to live in healthy relationships and I love working with people to help them live closer to who they were designed to be. I believe that if we are able to experience healing within ourselves, we can live in relationship with others more freely and authentically.

I utilize art, and mindfulness, and make an attempt to emphasize the client’s strengths in order to bring healing.
Are you going through important life changes? Do you feel a loss of connection with yourself, your family, with others, or with God? Challenges are often disguised opportunities to learn new skills. I help individuals, couples, and families address relationship crises such as escalating couple conflict; family breakdown in communication; pre and post-divorce issues; unique family dynamics when the couple have children from prior relationships; and the role that trauma often plays in getting stuck and staying stuck in addictive behaviors. Im LMHC (Counselor) - hablo Español. Qualified Supervisor MHC/ Virtual Thought Fl.

Online art therapy follows essentially the same process as in-person art therapy using the art supplies you have at home, without the time spent driving to an office.
The decision to st art therapy takes courage. Often the idea of talking about personal thoughts and emotions can be anxiety-inducing. As an art therapist and licensed mental health counselor, my goal is to provide a safe space to explore emotions through the creative process. I apply art therapy and counseling techniques to increase self-awareness, reduce stress, and encourage healthy expression. Art therapy requires no previous art experience. It does not matter what you create, it matters what your art means to you! Based on your individual goals, we may focus sessions on verbal counseling more often than the art process.

The counselor-client relationship is at the he art of therapeutic progress.
Clients come to my office to address an array of issues, but, first and foremost, they come to be heard and understood. In a world that seems to move increasingly faster with less genuine connection to others, LWS Wellness is dedicated to providing a safe, caring space where clients can take a breath, gather their thoughts, and explore their concerns. Clients are encouraged to further develop resiliency, apply coping skills and self-compassion, and examine the impact of past experiences and family dynamics. Who we are is often an intersection with what we've experienced. My clients' experiences are always respected.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
