I specialize in working with adults who struggle with anxiety, trauma, or loss and help people adapt to change.
Counseling in a safe space to identify and explore the things that keep you stuck and prevent you from living the life you want to lead. A safe non-judgmental environment will allow you to find or enhance motivation for change and identify choices that may have been overlooked or seen as not being possible in the past. Many people entering therapy are overwhelmed or find themselves at a crossroads in life when they need to adapt to new circumstances or adjust to uncomfortable changes in employment, relationships, or loss.

Iwould describe myself as a goofy and radically empathetic therapist that struggles with severe ADHD and also anxiety. Not to mention the grief! I am big on being vulnerable myself. We must lead by example. I also am a strong believer in the power of connection. If you cannot connect with your therapist, research says that therapy is not likely to be effective. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship above all else. That is my foundation. That means I pride myself on not being a robot. I cannot believe I have to say this, but many students in therapy have told me that they have had robotic therapist. That is not me. I believe the

Book with me now by clicking on my website. I have a Master's degree from UNF in Counseling Psychology and have 10 years experience as a LMHC. The majority of my experience is dealing with women's issues and how voice is found in a paternalistic society. I use a family systems lens as we "bring" our family with us even as individuals. In my work with clients I create a space of openness and acceptance as to what is present in the client's life - whether it be depression, anxiety, grief or other challenges. I believe that clients have an innate ability to create healing for themselves, and I shepherd that process.

I entered the mental health field with the desire to empower survivors of trauma and abuse to not only recover, but to thrive. As a Certified Trauma Professional, I specialize in posttraumatic stress, divorce recovery, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. My personal journey has taught me that the power of transformation lies in our willingness to become aware of, and then to let go of, the patterns that no longer serve us. My desire is to help individuals tap into their inner resilience in order to create meaning, find hope and healing, and become co-authors of their life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
