Hello and Welcome to New Beginnings and Horizons. My areas of clinical expertise include mental health counseling, addiction counseling, couples counseling, family therapy, and specific presenting concerns of blended families, depression and anxiety. My personal motto as a Clinician is “Being of Service and Helping others.” I believe strongly in the philosophy of instilling “Hope” to those with whom I am fortunate to cross paths with, because with “Hope” comes possibility. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. I look forward to being of service to you.

While change can be an exciting invitation for growth and deeper self-discovery, life’s transitions can also feel disorienting and overwhelming. If this resonates with you, you’re not alone. I’m here to listen and to help you strengthen your coping strategies for navigating the uncertainties and complexities of this moment. I support adult individuals in Louisiana and Florida who are adjusting to change and challenge in their lives and experiencing related stress, anxiety, depression, grief and/or trauma.

A positive outcome in therapy depends on the quality of the relationship formed between client and therapist. Client-therapist fit is the single most important predictor of therapeutic success. To complicate matters, therapists are trained and practice various models of psychotherapy according to the paradigm they were schooled.I am trained in the psychoanalytic tradition, a school of psychology steeped in history that has stood the test of time. The psychoanalytic interpretation of the client's life history allows the client to gain valuable insight into previously unconscious conflicts with immediate relief.

Coastal Therapy & Wellness is a group practice of Mental Health Professionals. Our philosophy is to help our clients work through life's toughest challenges, not to just get over them. When someone is struggling, it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help, but a sign of courage. There are many benefits of working with a group practice. Reassurance that all providers receive regular consultation offers a strong clinical and ethical team working in your corner. If it's not a good fit, or something new comes up in your life, you can easily meet with another therapist (or multiple!) without have to start over somewhere new.

With 15 years of professional experience, I am not your typical therapist. My practice is rooted in a trauma-informed and inclusive lens, ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and friendly. We are dedicated to empowering people to rediscover their spark or identify what is dulling their light. I want the people I serve to know that I am cheering them on and that they are not alone. Everyone deserves to be seen and heard. Just like physical exercise, our “Emotional Pushups” will help you get stronger, fostering resilience and growth.

Hi introverts and overthinkers! We’ll work together to create peace in your mind, your life, and your relationships. I love to work with people who think and feel deeply. Do you get excited about little things? Feel the heaviness of what is going on in the world? Me too. Being alive is a wild ride, and some people are more responsive to both the highs and the lows of being human. I like to work with those who think outside the box and have big hearts. I am open-minded and offer a judgment-free space. The insight I bring to the therapy room is informed by both professional and lived experience.

If you're in a problem relationship, experiencing infidelity, possible divorce, life transitions, difficulty in the workplace, too little time, worried about money, or your family's making you crazy - I can help. Moving from problem talk to solution talk is my focus. I enjoy working together discussing your concerns as you move toward fulfilling relationships, an overall better existence, and peace with yourself. We all want to feel happy and hopeful. However, sometimes life gets in the way and we're unsure of our next step. It's important to know that it's OK to ask for help.

I became a therapist with the goal of helping my clients self actualize in order to lead healthier, serene and joy filled lives. My goal is not to keep you in therapy forever but instead give you the tools you need to be able to feel at peace and in love with your best life. I believe the relationship we have with ourselves and the filter we view the world through are key components that determine our happiness and satisfaction with ourselves, our lives. Once healing begins, the inevitable development of self worth and self esteem allows us to self actualize, feel at peace and live our lives to the fullest.

We are a group of expert, open, and smart counselors that want to collaborate with you to become the happiest version of yourself. We believe in your ability to make lasting changes, with the company of a compassionate therapeutic relationship- where we teach, counsel, heal, and support you. Life can get us knotted up and we want to help you to untangle that knot and start feeling like your ideal self again...or for the very first time; by finally addressing the trauma, sadness, anxiety, lack of motivation, poor relationships, poor coping skills, lack of balance and calm, and other issues that hold you back.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
