It is my belief that each individual has a unique path that leads to healing, self-discovery and growth. As human beings, our life experiences, relationships and beliefs are varied, and as a therapist I honor these differences. I believe in the power of therapy as a means to heal through pain, but also in exploring greater meaning in one's life and relationships. I believe we can all benefit from therapy and gain valuable perspective about who we are and how we became that way. We can’t run away from the tough stuff.. Pain and suffering are a part of our human condition and can also be a huge opportunity for growth.

As a new mother, you're likely feeling overwhelmed, like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, and worried you may never feel "normal again". You might feel like you've lost yourself in juggling the needs of everyone else while struggling to care for yourself. After a lifetime of striving for success and always being what people need you to be, you may feel like you're not quite measuring up to your own expectations and the ways you used to cope just aren't working like they used to. You want to feel better and be the mom you want to be free of guilt and shame you've been carrying. I get it! I've been there too

Facing & accepting experiences in life is a process that is often challenging & requires time & an emotional & mental investment. It is also an empowering journey that promises healing and growth to those who choose to engage in an evidence-based, facilitated approach from the effects of trauma &/or developmental impairments. I combine elements of social skills training, psychoeducational & psychodynamic techniques, & emphasize support.

Working with individuals of color across the income strata has been a lifelong goal I have pursued. Dealing with Adjustment Issues, Stress, Parenting, Depressive, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, and Trauma are some of the more typical issues I manage. I use the modality of individual, group, and family therapy in traditional talk, insight-oriented as well as Play and Sand Tray modalities to elicit underlying and manifest psychological struggles and conflict.

I specialize in helping women who prioritize everyone's needs over their own, women who are juggling multiple roles and give unto others until there's nothing left to give themselves. Women who are often called upon to problem-solve and find solutions for those around them. On the outside, it looks as if you can handle it all but silently, you’re struggling. The feelings of sadness and anxiety have left you doubting your self-worth and ability. You’ve lost yourself along the way and no longer recognize the person you’ve become.

I am committed to providing a sanctuary for healing and restoration where clinical excellence meets compassionate care. I believe in a holistic approach to wellness that acknowledges the entire person — body, mind, and spirit. My practice is dedicated to offering the highest standards of pharmacotherapy and clinical medicine, harmoniously integrated with pastoral counseling, to support not just the alleviation of symptoms but the pursuit of wholeness and well-being. We are guided by the scriptural truth that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), deserving care that honors the intricate design of the human constitution. In alignment with biblical wisdom, we advocate for a therapeutic approach that is patient-centered, as we hold fast to the teaching that each person is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), warranting respect and dignity in every aspect of care. As a pastoral counselor, I aim to embody these qualities, creating an environment of empathy and understanding. Pastoral care counseling instills hope, grounded in the transformative power of faith.

Amidst the demands of life, it is easy to find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, and disconnected from self. Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
