We provide play therapy at 3 locations in Jacksonville: Neptune Beach, Riverside, and Ponte Vedra Beach. Children have a limited verbal ability to communicate how they think and feel about the world. Young children (ages 2-12) most naturally process and share emotionally significant experiences though play. Play is their language. At The Healing Playroom, Registered Play Therapists use the child's most natural form of communication, instead of asking them to use ours. Play Therapy is a respectful, effective, and developmentally appropriate way to help young children who are experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral problems.

I am a trained ART Therapist. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a form of psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies. Which has shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly usually within few sessions? Clients with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, (PTSD) substance abuse, sexual abuse and many other physical conditions. My ideal client is one who is striving to make a change. In order for this to occur, there must be cooperation and mutual respect between all parties. I will also work with those who are unable to express their feelings & thoughts and who have built these up due to the stigma regarding mental health.

I adopted a family system's approach, as I believe that none of us live in a vacuum. We are all currently involved or have been involved in a family unit at some point. Many or our traditions, ways of thinking and acting comes from factors that influenced our original family and continue to affect us. It is important to look at where's we've been, where we want to go and then develop a road map to get there.

I like to use a gentle, caring, non-judgmental approach. I am certified in EMDR (EMDRIA) and use many of its protocols as well as other trauma-informed, creative and energy modalities to help clients achieve their treatment goals. I also facilitate coaching sessions, using goal setting, visualization and sensory techniques to facilitate a new you, whether personally or professionally.

As both a therapist and professor at the University of North Florida, I specialize in young children and parenting. I help families facilitate a healthy, loving relationship with each other while helping children learn how to feel, process, and communicate feelings. This leads to more connection and understanding of themselves and others. As a parenting and play therapist specialist, I work with children of divorce, anger, tantrums, trauma, sibling rivalry, anxiety, depression, academic difficulties, and self esteem issues.

I once read that "when we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary." Inspired by this, I aim to create a safe and comforting space for those feeling overburdened by their emotions. Together, we can navigate a way forward. I am passionate about supporting those with learning needs, including ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, and anxiety. I recently published a series of children's books that celebrates their positive traits (on Amazon). I have led multiple large-scale government-funded grants and worked with thousands of families along the way. I have expertise in using DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy ) to support individuals with mood disorders, including depression and anxiety. I also host a weekly TV segment on Mental Wellness (WJXT).
