I also have extensive experience working with personality disorders, mild eating disorders, identity issues, stress management, bereavement, self-esteem, career issues, personal growth, and self-understanding.
I believe the cornerstone of creating change is a strong therapeutic alliance..an affirmative working relationship between client and therapist. Our past is a part of our current functioning, in that behaviors and attitudes that once helped us survive can sometimes become outdated and problematic. Therapy is one way to help people "revise" their survival tools and live a more enriching and fulfilling life.

I specialize in grief, anxiety, religious trauma, life transitions, boundary work, & working with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Being human is hard. There are many emotions that come from simply existing. It can feel overwhelming to embark on the search/discovery of one’s most authentic self while navigating the world around you. To learn what works & what you’d like to change. To find the language to communicate who you are to yourself & others. It can help to have someone accompany you as you learn/remember who you are or want to become. I can provide a space for all that you carry to be witnessed, validated, & explored. I’d love to join you in your journey towards embracing both the beautiful & painful complexities of being human. I'm here for you!

Fears can stand in the way of our progress, and we can struggle personally and/or professionally. Maybe you realize it’s time to get more clear about the next step to take related to a relationship or life milestone. You might be feeling more ready to devote time toward a situation that needs some attention. Or you might be needing to not be alone in this time of grief. Our sessions provide spaciousness for your embodied wisdom to be accessed, and we can explore what might bring you a bit more peace and clarity.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
