By integrating the principles of EMDR with a comprehensive understanding of mental well-being, our practice is not just about treating symptoms but nurturing the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.
Our ideal client is someone facing the challenges of trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, or navigating relationship complexities, including marriage counseling needs. They are on a journey to heal from past wounds and build resilience against life's adversities. Their goal is to cultivate a balanced and fulfilling life, overcoming anxiety and depression through self-discovery and improved coping strategies. In therapy, they seek a safe space to process and grow, aspiring to transform their trauma and relationship challenges into catalysts for personal development, stronger self-esteem, and healthier, more meaningful connections.

I am a Certified EMDR therapist and trained at Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute.
Have you been discouraged by your dire trying to stop something that stresses you out through the bombardment of non-stop racing thoughts, flashbacks, or even the act of overthinking situations? Consistently finding yourself trying to get out of a pool of depressive thoughts, anxiety, or anger that are chronically affecting you and your family to the point of feeling lost and hopeless. In spite of having the flood of helpful and educational information “out there”, here we are, still STUCK in pain and suffering. The scars of unbearable emotional pain portray themselves through our emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

I specialize in trauma therapy and use EMDR, TF:CBT, CPT, PE.
Are you ready to start healing from your trauma and PTSD? Not sure where to start. I am here to help. Do you struggle with sleep, dreams of being back there, unable to get your brain to shut down and relax, feelings of shame, guilt, anger, and numbness.…you were not prepared for this. Having images pop into your head of that thing, those people, or that feeling. They may teach you how to do your job, but not how to deal with the fallout. You can be ok when you are with others who understand, but when you have to go home you may feel like you are alone or are not good enough for your family. There is help for you.

My background in art therapy, EMDR, CBT, and mindfulness enables me to use the most appropriate tools to better serve my clients.
It can be confusing and overwhelming to examine things head-on. I have partnered with clients who have faced terrible traumas to help them break free from the past. I can help you learn how to understand and respond to your body when anxiety leads to distress. I can assist you in grieving by helping you live a life that still honors who you are and identify areas of meaningfulness for you.

As an EMDR-trained Mental Health Clinician, I provide psychotherapy services to teens and adults in both my Coconut Grove office, or through virtual therapy sessions.
Life is both amazing and testing. My goal as a therapist is to provide a supportive space where you can feel safe to explore and understand your strengths as well as your personal challenges.  It’s OK to not have it all figured out right now, and with time you’ll be able to connect the dots in your life.  You already have what it takes to get there.  It takes courage to get there, and sometimes the support of a therapist.

I am also certified in EMDR, and practice evidenced-based trauma therapies such as prolonged exposure and Written Exposure Therapy.
"Therapy is a journey one takes with a trusted professional who will walk side by side, at times guiding and at times following. There are no preconceived notions about this journey however brief or extended." These are the words I have shared over many years of training young professionals. Though I treat all types of individuals, my area of specialty is complex trauma - borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and dissociation. I am intensively trained in DBT and have been practicing and teaching DBT for over fifteen years. My team is DBT by Design/South FL DBT Consortium.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
