Everyone deserves to be heard and validated. I believe that people have the power to become whoever they want to be, and sometimes they just need the right tools to get there. That's where I come in. I provide clients with those tools through various techniques, but more importantly, I take the time to understand you. I explore your goals, fears, desires, upbringing, and what matters most to you. I delve into your relationships and the connections between your past and future. By asking insightful questions and helping you connect the dots, I aim to facilitate deep self-understanding and transformative "aha" moments.

You’re successful & smart, but your relationships are EPIC failures. The harder you look for happiness, the farther it slips away. Why is this so easy for others but SO hard for you? Your inner critic whispers your deepest fears: the past left you too damaged & unlovable. After years of repeating patterns, it’s time to stop your past from defining the present and stealing your future. You're ready to end the cycle of toxic relationships, have supportive friendships, & a loving partner. Instead of dreading it, coping effectively with family conflict would be great. Getting you there is my specialty.

I see you; you are a person in pursuit of your best self, are the parent of a developing one, or are a thriving couple. I work with people and couples that are on the go and aspirational. My clients may be highly functioning while under stress or meeting challenges. However, I know looks can be deceiving. You can make it look really good but not be feeling good, or you may make choices that aren’t working out and are wondering why. This is a time when extra training and development is needed. I provide space for you to explore, meet challenges, increase understanding, navigate relationships, better communication, and process events.

I work with young adults and adults facing various life challenges, struggling with emotional difficulties, familial and societal demands and views, that might inform and impact their abilities to be their best selves. Individuals and couples that I meet with, are people wanting to make sense of their lives, their relationships and/or working at understanding and embracing who they are. I strive to create spaces in which gender expressions, sexual and affectional orientations, are welcomed and explored, as are acculturation issues affecting immigrants. I conduct sessions in English, Haïtian Creole, and French.

First, I want to congratulate you for taking the first step in taking authority over your healing and wholeness journey. The stressors of life is a lot to manage alone at times. It takes a lot of strength to recognize and seek help to not just survive in this thing called life, but to also thrive. As a clinician, I help navigate clients through past and present experiences and assist in crafting a better future by working collectively with individuals (adolescents and adults), couples, and families. I provide my clients with practical coping skills to manage the challenges of life and unlearn unhealthy defense mechanisms.

You present a relaxed front, but internally you are struggling. Even though you are doing everything you “should” be doing, something doesn’t feel right. Your anxious thoughts keep you up at night. It seems your child’s anxiety is increasing your own. Worrying about pleasing others - taking on more than you should to make people happy, settling for less because you feel too guilty to ask for what you need, etc. (you get it) - all of this has gotten in the way of figuring out what you want out of life.

You have so much love to give and for as long as you can remember your focus has been on others and putting their wants and needs first. Sometimes it may even feel like the people in your life stay because of what you do for them. But do they really know you? For so long you've neglected yourself to the point where you can’t remember the last time you did anything just for you. Maybe you’re feeling like you don’t even know yourself anymore.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
