While I draw from various therapeutic modalities, my specialization lies in Attachment Therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy.
My ideal clients are individuals who are not just seeking change, but are genuinely committed to the transformative process. They come with a readiness to work, displaying openness to feedback and a willingness to engage in self-reflection. These individuals are driven by a profound desire to make concrete changes in their lives, acknowledging that they currently find themselves feeling stuck. Their struggles encompass a yearning for more fulfilling relationships and a stronger sense of identity. These clients recognize that there is untapped potential within them and are eager to embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Are you more critical of yourself than you are of anyone else? It's hard to feel fulfilled in your work and relationships if you are beating yourself up inside. When you begin to take a more gentle stance towards yourself, it's amazing how much energy you can free up. I use mindfulness and IFS (Internal Family Systems) strategies to help clients do deep and meaningful work in sessions. "I learned a long time ago the wisest thing I can do is be on my own side..." quote by Maya Angelou. When you begin to truly understand and be kind to yourself, you will find more joy and notice positive changes in many aspects of your life.

I facilitate mindful family building while aiding parents with high-risk pregnancies and postpartum support.
I have extensive skills with adolescents/adults/families yet conceptualize my role as guiding others to vibrantly re-illuminate their lives. My passion for psychotherapy stems from my appreciation for communication as a healing agent, intensified by my MSc. in Speech Pathology from McGill University. When challenged by traumatic medical events, I was struck by patients’ capacity to recover cognitive-linguistic functioning as well as purpose/identity. At Nova Southeastern University, I cultivated expertise in individual, family, and group counseling with sensitivity to language differences/disorders and/or multiple disabilities.

You wish your child would follow the bedtime or breakfast routine better. Your child seems unable to communicate, problem solve, reflect, or play with friends. Your child has difficulty with homework or following rules. Your child gets into trouble at school or with the kids on the block. You want your child to learn the art of communication, how to express their emotions in appropriate ways or to understand other people’s feelings. Your child needs help! You have tried everything you know including interventions. You feel frustrated and emotionally drained. You agonize about their behavior that is affecting the rest of the family.

I value having an emotionally-sensitive, humanistic and intuitive approach to supporting each family I work with.
In Love We Learn provides support for individuals with sensorimotor differences (autism and otherwise), their families, and their team of practitioners. Sensorimotor differences can impact so much. Life is complex, and can become even more so when considering someone living with and experiencing these differences. Families may struggle to find clinicians who can provide fulfilling guidance and support. My clients are looking for someone who can provide a unique perspective to their families' care. They are looking to build an intentional lifestyle around their loved one who is motor-impacted.

Let’s take a comprehensive look at your family dynamics, relationships, culture, sexuality, and everything else that makes you you.
Why does it feel like you’re living for everyone but yourself? Your family relies on you for everything from dinner plans to school projects. You take on extra assignments at work even when your plate is overflowing. Friends ask you for favors, and you can’t say no. You wish there was a way to create time for yourself, but you hate the idea of letting anyone down. So you keep pushing through. And no matter how hard you work, there’s still a voice in your head telling you it’s not enough. Fun is nonexistent, and you can’t remember the last time you did anything for yourself. You can’t go on like this, but change feels hopeless.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
