As a therapist, I feel bringing a nurturing and non-judgmental approach when working with different situations and encouraging strength and personal growth is important for therapeutic relationships. Most of my experience involves behavioral work such as defiance in children; teen issues, adult issues, anxiety, depression, grief, anger management, attachment issues, relationship issues, and family issues. I believe all behavior has a purpose and finding what is motivating the behavior is how we learn to manage difficult situations. Together, we explore avenues towards personal growth and emotional healing.

Other specialty areas include my experience with anger management, stress management/relief, and substance abuse.
My mission is to assist others with becoming their true selves by helping explore within to find their inner strengths. When we allow inner strengths to shine we can change ourselves for the better, overcome obstacles and be who we were meant to be. Whether it's facing your difficult past or planning your bright future, I'm here to help. I greatly value the therapeutic relationship. Once this relationship has been established, the individual can feel comfortable to address more personal issues in a confidential and respectful environment. I assist with teaching the tools needed to manage thoughts which will then manage behaviors.

Guiding a young person through their unique challenges can be a demanding task. School age kids can often struggle with anger, outbursts, defiance, grief, depression and loss, which impact their ability to function well at home and school. Teens and young adults often struggle with establishing identity, conflicts with family, and finding a way to adapt, cope, and express themselves in an ever-changing and demanding world. The increasing rates of youth mental health distress highlights the need for more robust mental health services and reaching out for help the first step.

I have worked with adolescents, teens, and adults on a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, conduct disorder, anger management, stress management, relationship issues, trauma, and substance abuse.
I am a bi-lingual (English and Haitian Creole) counselor. I believe the most valuable skill I posses as a counselor is the ability to create a warm and inviting environment for my clients. As a counselor, I understand that the greatest change agent is the relationship that we develop during our sessions. And that can only be done by allowing you the space to open up. That is why I pride myself as being a good listener, compassionate, and easy to talk to.

I am passionate about working with children, teens, and adults who are experiencing symptoms of overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, grief, depression, anger, behavioral issues, ADHD, sensory processing issues, bullying, or low self-worth. I have been working with children, teens, adults, & families in various settings for 25+ years. Most of the clients I work with are between the ages of 3 to 15. The majority of the statements or concerns I hear are my child is strong willed, struggles with anxiety, has emotional outbursts, and/or is grieving. I also provide care & compassion for parents as they walk through this journey with their child.

I consider mental health counseling a profession in which my clients come to me because they feel stuck and want to change. Further, I believe that many people believe that change is too difficult, too painful, or simply not possible. In other words, stuck! My role as a counselor is to clarify the issues that create the muck that holds my clients back from healing, growth, and thriving. I help them discover that their lives will not get better by chance, but by change. I believe that the road to healing involves pursuing change.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
