My primary areas of focus are generalized anxiety, social anxiety, perfectionism, school avoidance, test anxiety, ADHD, social skills development, depression, family difficulties and divorce, and issues related to trauma.
I’ve worked with children and adolescents in a variety of settings for over 20 years. My counseling practice focuses on helping clients work through the issues that prevent them from participating fully in daily living. I use “top down” approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) along with “bottom up” approaches like biofeedback that work to regulate emotion using the body and breath. I have a strong emphasis on self compassion because I have found that young people who struggle can be very critical of themselves. I work to validate their feelings and normalize their struggles.

Welcome! I know the search for a therapist with whom you feel comfortable is as unique as your own personal story. But you have taken the first step and I'm happy you're here. For almost 10 years I have been helping my clients heal from their hurts so they can achieve their goals and move toward greater peace and happiness. I have helped clients suffering from depression. anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and issues surrounding their work, school and relationships. Having been on my own healing path in therapy for much of my life helps me truly connect with and care deeply about my clients and their wellbeing. Individuals who may be hesitant to seek therapy because they are nervous or don’t know what to expect would especially benefit from my kind, calm, approachable, and non judgmental demeanor.

I have a specialized interest in supporting individuals with ADHD, giftedness, twice-exceptionality, and those experiencing psychological symptoms stemming from medical conditions such as pans/pandas and lyme.
Sometimes life can get overwhelming, and it can be hard to find a safe and non-judgmental space to unwind and gain clarity, perspective, and support in facing life’s challenges. For families with neurodivergent family members or invisible disabilities, it can be difficult to find a counselor who “gets it” and understands their experience, the lingo, and the complexities of navigating life through this lens. As someone with lived experience in these areas, I am passionate about supporting others through this journey. I take an integrative and individualized approach to supporting each client.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
