I am trained in EMDR, the neurobiology of trauma, mindfulness, self compassion work, and anger management.
You might find yourself trying desperately to push down your issues. You give your all for others but when it comes to helping yourself, you’re at a loss. You might think “Yeah well I don’t deserve it”, or “I’m just broken”. These thoughts are painful, and frankly exhausting. When you notice that you deeply crave peace, or wish for a "reset", this is when you are on the brink of immense growth. I create space for you to make yourself a priority. I will sit with your stories and accept you completely. I will help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and give you tools to help you feel better now.

Reaching out for help takes great strength. You have already taken the first step in healing and improving your life. It is difficult to see the positives and the hope when you are discouraged or overwhelmed. I work with my clients to help them overcome the barriers that prevent them from leading a fulfilling life. I specialize in eating disorders, depression, self-harming behaviors, couple and adolescent counseling. I encourage you to take the next step in working on those concerns and problems that prevent you from being happy and content. I would welcome the opportunity to help you start believing that change is possible.

The new year is upon us! Life can be stressful and overwhelming to say the least, especially around the holidays and new year. Do you feel broken, stuck, or trapped right now? Have you lost hope of ever having the life you dreamed of before the path you were on was changed. Ever feel like every time you take a step forward, life knocks you down a flight of stairs? Now not only do you have to get back up, but the next step forward is uphill. You may be experiencing difficulty adjusting to the changes in your life. This can be exhausting and very tempting to give up on those dreams you had.

My ideal client is hopeful that they can achieve, overcome, or get through their concern. I know that each client is unique in their issues, needs, and goals, and I don't judge those areas. Instead, I respect the client's focus and seek to understand what those are. Ideally, the client has goals that are both in the here and now and can be sustaining and realistic. In addition, the client's needs are reasonable and obtainable needs such as improving one's mood because they're sad, alleviating symptoms of anxiety that have been ongoing for weeks, or having a better relationship with a family member.

Are you frustrated and overwhelmed in your relationship with another person? Research shows that happiness in life depends most on having strong, healthy connections with the people around you. Unfortunately, things don't always go smoothly. Maybe you're in a state of conflict with your current partner, your ex, a co-worker or family member...and it's wearing you down. Even though the issue is "relational", my approach is individual. I believe the first step in healing is understanding your own feelings, experiences, needs and obstacles. We can do that through hourly sessions, online or in person. I also do intensives (2-4 hours).

Beginning therapy can be an anxiety provoking decision due to the vulnerable place you find yourself when seeking counseling. I create a safe and trusting space, so my clients feel free to discuss any type of concern. I believe therapy is a collaborative partnership, where great transformation can take place when one is ready. It takes courage to make that first step, but once you do, you will begin to create positive change in your life, feel better about yourself and the one's you love. I have been helping people improve their lives and their relationships for over 25 years. I look forward to beginning this journey with you.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
