I use evidence-based treatment methods including EMDR, CBT, DBT, PCIT, REBT, and more.
Are you struggling in your relationships? Do you feel stuck? Our perspective shapes our experience in life, condition of our hearts, and inner life. Our mental and behavioral health stems from our minds, emotions, and spirit being aligned. When we are able to process and heal from trauma, develop insight, express our feelings in a supportive environment, and practice skills; we begin LivingWell outwardly. Then, we cultivate healthy connections, communication, and relationships. Change occurs from the inside then flows out.

I bring over ten years of clinical counseling experience and am trained in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), brief CBT-I to treat Insomnia, and Guided Imagery to assist my patients with navigating a multitude of clinical needs.
Have you ever felt like you cannot find the energy or motivation to do the most basic tasks? Or constantly going over the "what-ifs" in your mind? Have you ever struggled with losing someone that you love and feel as if you will never make it out of the fog? Have you experienced a traumatic event and need help managing the thoughts and feelings that come up after the experience? Are you feeling stuck in your life, or just listless? Are you struggling with substance abuse and the impact of usage in your professional and/or personal life? Do you have a history of self-harm or self-harming thoughts?

I do so using a synthesis of cognitive, psychotherapeutic, and spiritual tools to facilitate integration, and enhance success.
My career as a therapist, since 1993, along with my life experience, and study of both traditional, and complementary modalities, has provided me with the skills, insight, and ability to work with a diverse population. We live in challenging times. We are often faced with life situations that are difficult to deal with. By helping clients to address issues, supporting them to find their own answers, as well as providing helpful tools to improve coping, symptoms of depression and anxiety can be reduced or eliminated. My goal is to help you to live a better life, enjoy your relationships and families, and work efficiently.

Generally, I implement cognitive-behavioral techniques through a person-centered trauma-informed lens.
I appreciate you considering me as someone that may stand by you during this difficult time. The focus of my individual clinical work has been with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, identity crises, childhood trauma, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, while tackling a plethora of general life issues. I have also worked with couples and families to resolve interpersonal issues. I am passionate about helping people in systemically oppressed groups like those in LGBTQ+, non-monogamy, and kink communities as well as any others that may find it hard to express parts of themselves. All of you is welcome!

I have specialized, post-graduate training in many evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS-informed).
I have tried therapy and it didn't work. I have heard this from clients so many times. The truth is, therapy is not a "one size fits all" type of service. There are many different types of therapy and many different types of therapists. I partner with my clients to customize their treatment plan to fit their preference for treatment style/modality as well as to meet their personal goals. I have helped many people manage a wide variety of struggles including those related to depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and symptoms related to trauma - just to name a few.

S stabilization method, CBT and DBT for the basics of coping and starting to get back on track.
The thoughts of harming yourself are a hard thing for a lot of people to comprehend, which can make even asking for help seem impossible. It’s often hard to reach out to close friends or family…nevermind some stranger that says that they can help. I strive to offer every client a supportive, non-judgmental approach to help explore where you are at, how you’ve been coping with it, and what a tomorrow that is worth living for would truly look like. No one starts cutting or thinking about suicide without a good reason. No matter what your reason is, it matters, even if others have told you otherwise.

After more than 13 years of counseling; I believe growth is hard, even painful..... but life is also. We can control how we react to things that happen, processing them, or holding things inside avoiding them which can hurt us and our loved ones more. Are you pretending, running, numbing, or repeating patterns in choices or relationships and suffering because it is scary and hard to look at yourself? The more we ignore things, the stronger they seem to get. But, I believe by honestly sharing you can transform pain, heal from trauma, see more clearly or gain perspective, and change your story to change your life!

Hello, and welcome. I would first like to acknowledge your strength and courage in taking this step toward making your mental health and wellness a priority. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership, in which the therapeutic alliance sets the foundation for successful outcomes. As an integrated therapist, I reject a “one size fits all” approach. I draw from various modalities as necessitated by the presenting issue, and believe that techniques should be tailored to individualized needs. I seek to minimize “labeling,” and strive to make a genuine human connection with clients as they share their unique worldview and experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
