While psychodynamic in nature, I utilize behavioral therapies (ACT and DBT) to help a person feel heard and continue to grow.
Life can be difficult--sometimes, unnecessarily hard. People do their best to cope with challenges, but often these coping strategies are destructive, hindering our emotional health and interpersonal relations. I specialize in depression, relationship issues, anxiety, and substance and behavioral addictions. Ideally, I can help you find your true self, and through this journey you can begin to discover what you truly deserve in life.

I employ mindfulness, gestalt, psychodynamic, and motivational interviewing with a focus on boundaries, increasing self-awareness, self-expression, and trauma healing.
Overwhelmed with stress/emotion? Afraid of conflict from expressing yourself openly? Or feeling misunderstood and/or not "fitting in" to your community the way that's expected? Between our childhood/relationship/traumatic experiences and cultural pressures we face, it's no wonder so many of us don't feel like we're "good enough" or feel "trapped" often. Living for other peoples' expectations over our own. Whether you struggle with effectively setting boundaries, anxiety about expressing yourself freely, or struggle with stress relief; let's explore options and discuss tools to help you feel more free and in control of your life.

I utilize modalities such as dreamwork, mindfulness, body-based, psychodynamic and cognitive/behavioral therapy.
The fundamental core of my practice is the belief that each individual has the capacity for wisdom, growth and change with respect to his/her own life. I trust that the potential that is necessary for change is within each person, but this capacity may not always be evident or accessible. As a clinician, I believe that one of the most important components of psychotherapy is having an atmosphere which is supportive, patient, validating and compassionate. I approach my patients with integrity and a commitment to help you create a higher quality of life that resonates with your true self.

Are you struggling with boundary setting in relationships? Perhaps you feel the same relationship patterns keep showing up? If you feel you have lost your identity and self worth you don't have to navigate these concepts alone. I am a licensed therapist with eight years of experience in helping others move towards successful interpersonal relationships. I collaborate with individuals to help them cross out negative cognitions, assist in exploring healthy coping skills, and aid in transforming your current mindset.

My clients benefit from evidenced based therapies such as psychodynamic and emotionally focused using attachment theory and energy psychology, as well as cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies.
Your relationship with family, friends, and, of course, yourself is of the most importance. I believe there is no good reason for you to be alone with grief, insecurity, low self-esteem, shame, loneliness, fear, worry, and anxiety. Reaching-out for help could be the most courageous gift you could give yourself. I would be honored to help you through these struggles. I would like to give you the very best individual psychotherapy or couples counseling. I do not offer a "band aid" approach to therapy, meaning, the process to feeling better is one that requires a confidential, authentic, and meaningful relationship with me.

The modalities I most often practice include DBT, CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and EMDR.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most crucial component for success in treatment. I am skilled at helping my clients feel connected, comfortable, and validated during sessions. Often clients have shared that they have struggled to connect with a therapist in the past, but find they are able to feel connected in our sessions. If you are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression or if you have experienced trauma in childhood or recently, I may be a good fit for you. Please send me a message to inquire further, I typically respond within 24 hours.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
