I use a client-centered, psychodynamic approach by tailoring the therapeutic process to you.
Through relationships and connection, healing is possible. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I know how impactful it is to have someone that can listen and provide emotional support. I am dedicated to supporting people on their journey to mental and emotional wellness, as I believe that everyone has the power and ability to overcome challenges in life. I use a trauma-informed approach as I know the importance of feeling understood and accepted. That is the first step in promoting a positive sense of self-worth to help you gain peace and acceptance within.

My approach is person-centered, attachment-based, psychodynamic, and emotionally focused, prioritizing safety and trust.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, fearful, or uncertain about how to move forward? I understand. I've felt those same feelings. For me, seeking professional guidance was grounded in the realization that the pain of remaining the same was more unbearable than the discomfort of change. Courageously reaching out for professional guidance and support as you embrace your story illuminates your internal strength, resilience, and desire for growth and healing.

I utilize traditional psychotherapeutic techniques including CBT/psychodynamic, combined with a mindfulness approach, to assist my clients in finding wellness.
I have learned in my years in practice that creating a safe space of listening and compassion for someone who is struggling is so incredibly powerful. Over the years I have worked with individuals facing depression, anxiety, addiction, the effects of trauma, and work or relationship challenges, all from a client-centered and collaborative approach. I believe we already have everything we need to live a life filled with contentment and satisfaction, we just need to rediscover the answers already within us. It is my ultimate goal to help my clients see themselves in this same positive and compassionate light.

Psychodynamic, Solution Focused & CBT are also utilized when appropriate.
Are you looking for help for yourself OR are you seeking couples counseling? I have several specialties & advanced training to help individuals & couples get out of their frustrating negative cycles. Individuals I work with often seek treatment for symptoms that, despite their best efforts, do not go away such as feeling emotionally numb or angry & have intrusive thoughts/memories from a traumatic event or have been diagnosed with PTSD. The couples I work with often report feeling stuck, feeling alone and sick of having the same arguments yet nothing changes. I also treat survivors of narcissistic parents and narcissistic partners.

Every day, you and your partner seem to drift further apart. It’s happened so slowly that you barely even realized it. Unspoken frustrations became lingering resentments that gradually destabilized the entire foundation of your relationship. After years of disloyalty, you can no longer trust each other. When you try to talk about how you’re feeling, it feels like your words go unheard, echoing in an empty chamber. Every attempt at finding some solution has come up short, and your interventions feel as useless as placing a Band-Aid on a broken limb. You know that something needs to change, but you’re out of ideas. It feels hopeless.

I take a person-centered approach to counseling, while utilizing tools from many other types of therapies. I feel it is important to get to the root of an issue by figuring out where it began, process through it to find healing and acceptance, and then use tools and techniques to make specific changes in thoughts and behaviors. I believe setting goals helps to track progress and can be a great motivator. I see counseling as a holistic process and integrate spiritual, physical, & mental aspects into the process, as you feel comfortable.

I believe everything happens for a reason and we all have a purpose. That being said, it's sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Often times, we are stuck in old habits of thinking, feeling and communicating. As a therapist, my goal is to assist you through the change process while providing a non-judgmental, safe space for clients to explore their feelings, hopes and fears. Keeping therapy both interactive and collaborative we embark together on this journey. My therapeutic approach is integrative, blending evidence-based treatments with client-centered and strength-based interventions.

Therapy should not be scary nor should it be complicated. I provide a non-judgmental, safe environment for you to explore your concerns and become the best version of yourself. My clients describe me as encouraging, loving, motivating and professional.. I don't use psychobabble. My approach is down to earth, educational and adapted to meet your individual style. I use psychological principals combined with lifestyle education (exercise, diet, nutrition) to empower you to start living the life you want. These techniques may be used for physical and emotional problems and may positively impact areas such as personal relationships, sports and business.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
