My specialties include trauma, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias.
There are times we can handle life's challenges on our own, and other times when we need support. In those moments, I'm here to help. During our initial consultation, we'll explore your personal history, identify current challenges, and assess past strategies. Together, we'll create a plan focused on enhancing your resilience. I'm dedicated to not only providing immediate support but also equipping you with skills for long-term empowerment. With a compassionate and client-centered approach, I hope you feel heard, understood, and supported as you embark on your journey towards health and healing.

My training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has afforded me the opportunity to specialize in helping the OCD population for the last ten years.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked both privately, and in the nation's top healthcare companies. It is my goal to work collaboratively with each client to achieve his or her individual goals for treatment. I believe that true, lasting change arises from a solid working relationship between client and therapist. I make sure to spend time setting a solid foundation for treatment that will allow for effective therapeutic change. While mindful, Cognitive Behavior Therapy is my primary modality, I believe each client deserves the benefit of a holistic, integrative approach.

I counsel people of all ages with a variety of issues, ranging from trauma, global developmental delays, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, dual diagnosis, gender identity issues, depression, anxiety, and more.
Often the first question a new client asks is, "Where do I begin?" So much is on your plate; it might feel like it will take forever to tell your life story and what is on your mind. My philosophy is that wherever you start is the right place. I do not follow a set script, write everything down with a pen constantly in hand, or stop the session exactly on the mark. My sessions are about building the relationship and staying relatable so that my clients feel safe to open up and explore their issues. Dialogue will be in conversation format and the client will be in control of the session.

In a warm, supportive, and collaborative atmosphere I offer short and long term psychotherapy to resolve issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, serious illness, addictions, eating disorders, work issues, trauma, sexual disorders, OCD, ADD, and self esteem issues.
Are you looking for exceptional therapy? Are you finding it difficult to call? It is sometimes not easy to take the first step toward beginning therapy. For some it is about having thought they could do it themselves, for others they think it is a sign of weakness, and yet others sometimes worry about using therapy as a crutch. Then there are those who can hardly wait to begin, perhaps begin again, with a new and different therapist, eager to enter the journey of self discovery and self improvement. All this is normal. Either way, you will feel understood and cared for.

I have been counseling professionally since 1999 and offer my clients expertise in treating anxiety, OCD, depression, stress, and trauma, as well as creating more ease, safety, worthiness, and satisfying connections with others. I am a certified EMDR therapist & use EMDR to resolve traumatic or upsetting events from clients' pasts that continue to intrude into their present-day lives. I have trained in parts work (Internal Family Systems, ego state work, parts of self) since 2005, and use it to help people resolve inner conflicts that keep them stuck, and lower their automatic defenses that keep them isolated, angry or avoidant.

I have been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in South Florida since 2010. Clients who have had negative experiences with therapy in the past have described me as “the therapist for people who think they hate therapy.” I have a laid-back style and I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure they are getting what they need out of therapy. My therapeutic approach focuses on the mind-body connection. I teach clients to evaluate how mood can be affected by food, sleep habits and physical movement, as well as genetics, thought processes, and trauma.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
