Starting therapy can feel daunting. Will my therapist understand me? How can I trust this stranger with my most vulnerable thoughts and feelings? Will this really help my anxiety/relationship/emotions/etc.? Is it worth it? First, you are not alone in these thoughts. Deciding to seek therapy and finding a therapist are big steps towards change that can be challenging. Second, I am here to walk alongside you through this process at your own pace. I believe that every thought and behavior makes sense in context. Therefore, I collaborate with you to explore and understand your personal context so we can successfully facilitate change.

Effective therapy, in my view, moves forward only when you, the patient, do not feel judged, talked down to or told what to do. It is only in this atmosphere of mutual respect and regard that you will surface and examine your issues in ways that give you insight to the "why's" of the choices you've made in the past, your responses to life's events, and options you might choose in the future. There are many different methods I may use depending on what seems most promising given your goals for therapy.

It is important that my clients have issues that I am qualified to treat. An ideal client would be willing to explore, understand, and work through their psychological and emotional challenges. Their needs consist of a nonjudgmental space where they feel seen, heard, and understood, allowing them to express themselves freely and practical tools and coping strategies to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress and to navigate challenging emotions or situations.

I primarily use an integrated interpersonal approach. This style of therapy focuses on modeling a healthy working relationship that can be applied to other relationships in one's life in order to reduce stressors and dysfunction. Interpersonal therapy also allows me to incorporate interventions from other therapy approaches, as needed, without compromising the overall therapeutic relationship.

I specialize in working with those who have become "disconnected" from life. The reasons for this disconnection can be anything from depression, life trauma, anxiety, addictions, to just feeling "stuck". If you are willing to work--because you know that therapy depends on a collaboration and the use of new tools--then you are a good candidate for life-changing therapy or coaching. You clearly have the courage to seek relief and guidance--you're here! Prepare now for the journey of your life. I look forward to joining together with you to find solutions for the issues you are facing.

So, you’re thinking about therapy… It takes courage to ask for help. When we experience something that has caused distress, threatens our life or our well-being it can be difficult to think clearly to make healthy choices for ourselves. Therapy allows you to talk about all of the negative thoughts and feelings that are left over.

Psst! Hey you! Yes you! Look at you taking your first step in caring for your needs. So, what's next? Search through profiles and see if someone is a good fit for you. First step is to determine your needs. Is it individual? Is it family? Lucky for you I do both! What outcomes do you want to achieve? Let's set some goals together. Remember every therapist won't be a right fit for you and that's OK. You are the expert of your own life so take your time and let's get it right!

My goal as a therapist is to find solutions that work for you on an individual basis, helping you to discover the true potential of your life. There may be no magic button or quick-fix solution when it comes to changing things from the past that have been difficult. What we can do is work together to find understanding and resolution in the difficult areas of your life and in the challenges you have to face. Through various techniques and approaches that have proven results, we’ll be able to identify the behaviors and thoughts that might be holding you back from living your best life, and finding meaning in your everyday life.

Just getting through the week can be difficult with a teenage girl. School, extracurricular activities, work, meeting new people- these can all bring on very strong emotional reactions. These reactions depend on the time of day, if she’s eaten, where she’s at in her menstrual cycle and what mood she woken up in that morning. It can be too much for one person (you). Your teen’s experience in therapy will lead them to know that they are strong, supported and capable of walking through difficult emotions.

I commend you for the awareness and insight it takes to know when to seek out help. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the sunny state of Florida. I work with clients from a variety of ages, though I primarily work with children and teens as well as their families. I also provide individual therapy services. I have learned in my years in practice that creating a safe space of listening and compassion for someone who is struggling is so incredibly powerful. In the past 20 years I have dedicated my life to helping people identify their problems/concerns and assisting them in reaching their therapeutic goals. I have experience treating children and adults with Anxiety, Trauma, Mood disorders, and more. I also provide life coaching services to individuals who want a holistic approach to living outside of therapy. I have worked in a variety of social service settings providing crisis counseling, group and individual therapy.

According to the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.” I disagree! Instead, trauma, if left unprocessed/untreated, it has the potential to cause unnecessary and significant mental distress. Throughout our lives, we, the vast majority of us, may experience traumatic events (micro and/or macro). During these trauma(s)—our role is simple—Survival. After the event(s), when we find ourselves on the other side of the trauma(s), again—our role is simple—To Go On With Life.

Life in the 21st century can be overwhelming. Stress affects relationships, work, social groups, home, health...and the list goes on. I've been working with individuals, families and organizations for 20+ years. I've had the best clinical training available in a broad range of techniques (below). I am board certified in clinical social work and hypnosis. I have a PhD in natural health. Prior to that, I worked for 25 years as a policy manager for corporate, government and non profit organizations, and understand work/home stress. We'll talk about what's going on in your life, and what approach will help you move forward.

New to therapy? Great. Tried 10 different therapists? Cool! My ideal client is anyone who is wanting to better themself. I think the most important factor in therapy is building a warm, welcoming therapeutic relationship. If you can't feel comfortable in therapy, no real work will be done. Let's get to know each other and work together to accomplish your goals!
