Are you feeling down, easily stressed, overwhelmed, unable to sleep? You put on a mask. No one knows how you are really feeling inside. You have always been able to do what you need to do. Now you can’t. Are you thinking, “I should …”, “maybe if I were to…”; but you procrastinate, you have no motivation. This is not who you are. This is not who you want to be. If this is what you are experiencing, we need to connect. I too have been there - felt the self-doubt, anxiety, feeling not good enough, just being stuck. I know what it takes to get back on track.

Welcome, This probably isn’t the first step you’ve taken on the path towards your own self-actualization. Often, we get really good at getting by and solving the problem on our own. Sometimes we figure it out, and other times we don’t. Or it works for a while, until we hit a new phase. Or maybe, it’s just too difficult to do the dishes when the world is on fire. I see that you’ve been trying, and I see that life is fucking hard. You may not have reached out to someone before now because a safe space wasn't available.

Most of the time people manage their lives very well. Sometimes, they need some direction or focus to get back on the right path. I take the time to get to know my patients, to know what matters to them and then use that information to help motivate, guide, and inspire them to make the changes they need to make in order to live their life committed to their goals and values. It is often not an easy road, but together, great things can happen!

Guiding you towards self-discovery/empowerment is my method for helping you understand your own needs more clearly. By decreasing the power of barriers, you open up space for personal growth. I appreciate your interest in counseling, and am happy to help you on your path. Our differences should be appreciated and not stigmatized; I want to help you see the ways your differences are strengths, how to value yourself, and maximize your potential.

I am a clinical psychologist who is passionate about my work with children, teens, and adults. I prefer to take a relational, client-centered approach to psychotherapy and strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative environment where my clients can be empowered to create positive change and to live better and more meaningful lives. I also come with years of experience working with families. In additional to my clinical work, I also provide forensic psychological assessments (immigration, personal injury, social investigations) and psychoeducational and educational testing for learning differences, autism, and ADHD.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
