As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, my focus is assisting in healing from trauma, recovery from dangerous relationship, and addiction using forward facing, gentle healing and cognitive behavioral techniques. The foundation for my work is a feminist approach which means that we work together to move to a new and more functional place, utilizing strengths and resources that are both internal and external. I believe that we are all seeking Security, Empowerment, Love and Freedom-S.E.L.F. Through each one of these goals we can open ourselves to our own power.

Additionally, I integrate Feminist Theory and Psychodynamic approaches to tackle complex problems.
Hello, I'm Michael Mazucci-Mambala, originally from Brooklyn, New York. After high school, I joined the United States Air Force and served as a meteorologist until retiring in 2012. Following my military career, I pursued a new path as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), gaining extensive experience in treating substance use disorders and psychological trauma. Are you stuck or lost? Are you struggling with anxiety and fear? Are those intrusive thoughts derailing your days? Feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner(s) can leave you feeling unloved, undesirable, and alone. Whatever your struggle, I am here for you.

Traumatic experiences can impact every aspect of your life and leave you feeling angry, confused, and lonely. If you feel discouraged, misunderstood, and just exhausted by how much energy it takes to cope on a daily basis, we should talk. I understand that trauma symptoms are disempowering and want you to know that you don’t have to handle this on your own.

Hi, my name is Diana and I am happy you have chosen my profile to review in your search for finding help with whatever it is you may need. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am trained in both general psychotherapy theories and systems theory. This means I take the individual’s whole system into account in sessions and how a family and/or a cultural system can affect an individual’s needs for becoming the best version of themselves. I believe in a holistic approach and tailor the treatment to each specific individual.

Do you ever feel like the weight of past trauma or abuse is too much? Are you kept awake at night by racing thoughts about the future - or regrets about the past? Some days, does sadness seem to linger for no reason at all? Maybe you've been coping by turning inward and self criticizing, controlling food or exercise, or by forming relationships with others that never turn out quite right. If any of this sounds like you, please know you're not alone. Together we can figure out why this all started and how to deal with problems in ways that actually solve them.

Are you full of racing thoughts and can't figure out why or how to stop them? Are you looking for a therapist who you can discuss your D&D character with? Maybe you're tired from reviewing every mistake you've ever made and struggle to communicate how you feel to friends and family. I value creating a space where we will explore who the villain of your story is, whether it be feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or something else. While I enjoy working with everyone, as a queer and GNC therapist, I specialize in working with queer/trans teens & adults. I appreciate creating a comfortable & geeky space where you can show up as yourself.

We often suppress our true identities and silence our voices because of external pressures and expectations, which ultimately keeps us from creating lives worth living. You deserve a space where you can be exactly who you are and become exactly who you want to be, in a way that makes you feel seen and validated. My aspiration is to be the kind of therapist my generational peers and I would have needed as adolescents: one who is solution-focused, authentic, nonjudgmental, will call you on your BS (gently!), and genuinely cares about you and your progress. (I do not treat couples or families at this time).

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
