LGBT, Relationships/Marriage, Sex, Kink/Fetish, Career Goals, Anxiety/Depression, HIV... Sometimes it can be so easy to sweep things under the rug and deal with it later. The problem is often we have so much going on that we forget to address things that we say we will. This therapeutic practice strongly believes that every person, every situation, and the surrounding circumstances are all unique. Your situation may sound like or seem similar to someone else’s but YOU are the factor that makes yours different, and that’s what the main focus will be; how you can be empowered to explore with me and take solutions into your world.

Sex Therapy is strictly instructive and verbal in a non judgmental setting.
Are you feeling sad, depressed, or overwhelmed? Do you suffer from anxiety, low self-esteem, or sexual issues and concerns? Are you unfulfilled in your relationship? The good news is that you have the amazing ability and power to change your life and create joy, happiness and wellbeing. Sometimes we just need a little help. I work with individuals and couples and together in therapy we explore what is holding you back from living the life you want. I will listen without judgement, I will guide and support you and challenge you to make positive changes and provide you with the tools and strategies you need to reclaim your life.

If you want to talk about mental health, relational issues (individually or as a couple), or sex, give me a call to set up a complimentary phone consult where I can answer any questions you may have.
Have you ever wondered what makes for a fulfilling life? I believe it can be condensed down to two things–mental well-being & relational satisfaction. If our mind is at peace and we have satisfying and rewarding relationships, we tend to feel great! Mental well-being is about living life in accordance with your values. When your values and your actions don’t align, we often see psychological distress. This, along with the seemingly relentless pressure to present our best selves 100% of the time can lead to symptoms of anxiety/depression. Sometimes we need a little TLC. A space to slow down, be introspective, and discuss challenges.

I am a sex-positive and kink/BDSM-affirming therapist experienced in working with sexually and relationally diverse partnerships.
Acknowledging that we cannot face life’s challenges alone and making the decision to ask for help is one of the most scary and courageous actions a person can take. I work from the perspective that all behaviors, thoughts, and feelings make sense within the context of our lives. At times though, things that once helped us cope with our circumstances no longer serve their purpose, but the thought of letting go or healing can feel overwhelming. My goal is to help clients gain better insight into their experiences while empowering a greater capacity for self-compassion and change.

In the past 20 years of my career I have received certified training in multiple modes of therapy including cognitive behavioral therapy, couples counseling, sex therapy and group therapies. As a bilingual, bi-cultural therapist, I enjoy working with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, gender, and sexual orientations. My approach to therapy is founded on the belief that people can change aspects of their life that no longer accurately represent who they are or how they want to be perceived by others.

With more than four decades of training, research, and clinical experience in sex, relationship, and cognitive-behavior therapy, and over a decade of training and experience in depth psychotherapy, I offer a unique and time-tested combination of intensive and analytic approaches to sexual, relationship, and meaning-of-life concerns.
Want to improve your sexual relationship? Your couples relationship? Your relationship with yourself? We have so little guidance in these areas. This is unfortunate when there are simple ways to transform a sexual relationship into a truly intimate one, a couples relationship into a truly cooperative one, and a relationship with yourself into a deeply meaningful and lifelong adventure. As an AASECT-certified and Masters & Johnson-trained sex and relationship therapist, and as a depth oriented-trained psychologist, I can help with intensive couples therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and individual, meaning-oriented therapy.

Sex Therapy

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
