Sometimes, just talking through issues won't get to the core of what is actually happening in your mind. Hypnotherapy is the most effective modality to help you get to the root of the issue so you can move forward with your life! I specialize in people with trauma and chronic illness because I can relate, as I have been there before. I am passionate about helping people get to their best life as soon as possible. I use a unique hybrid of Hypnotherapy, Neuro- Linguistic Programming, and Life Coaching to ensure the best possible care.

My specialty is grief & loss of all kinds, including bereavement, loss of health (chronic & terminal illness), loss of a beloved pet, retirement, and moving away from home (and other teen/young adult issues).
My approach to therapy is humanistic and strengths-based. I work with my clients to discover past and present successes and use these to address the challenges they face. I also use elements of narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients recognize that the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem. I am trained in relaxation techniques, including hypnotherapy. I am so fortunate that people choose to share their stories and their lives with me.

Pain is a necessary part of life.
My ideal client is an individual seeking freedom from emotional and psychological pain. My clients see me in order to gain independence from the pain of trauma, chronic illness, addiction, and existential crisis. My client's learn new ways of thinking about the world and their place in it. They learn to live as "a part of" and not "apart from". Their relationships are enhanced, their quality of life improves, and they begin to experience life more broadly and richly. My ideal client desires change and is willing to work to achieve it.

Do you need help getting "unstuck"? Even though you are the expert on yourself and your circumstances, you cannot see your way out of depression. Do you need help finding your way to a better version of yourself, free from mental illness? Do you need someone who is compassionate, non-judgmental, and who can help me navigate my way to feeling unstuck?

I work with individuals providing assessment and treatment of an array of problems such as anxiety, depression, addictions, chronic illness, sleep disorders, weight loss, and grief.
Hello there! If you are reading this, chances are you have been experiencing difficulties for which you have not found lasting solutions. That is okay and it does happen to all of us at one point or another. Gaining a better understanding of these difficulties, where they stem from, how they are maintained, and barriers to making changes are part of the processes people find helpful in getting their life back on track. As a licensed psychologist, I hope to provide an empathic, nonjudgemental space for us to do just that.

I am committed to providing a warm, collaborative and affirming space where adults get to safely understand the root of their pain, release and process their feelings to take steps towards healing.
My clients often identify as feeling "stuck." Stuck doing the same things over and over again, stuck wanting to change but struggling to take action. Stuck in a job or in relationships that feel unfulfilling. I work closely with codependency recovery and learning healthy relationships. I most frequently work with adults (18-35) experiencing life transitions, strained or toxic relationships with parents/significant others/self, low self esteem, anxiety and depression (also shows up as poor digestion + sleep). I work closely with the LGBT+ community and provide a safe and inclusive environment for all to show up exactly as they are.

You deserve the life you had before pain and anxiety—active and connected.
So, you've tried talk therapy. While it helped, it didn’t break you free from the cycle of anxiety and chronic pain that makes daily life exhausting. You’re still caught in a loop of worrying about others’ opinions, and the intensity of your responses makes connecting with others feel impossible. The weight of the world presses on your shoulders—physical discomfort, tightness in your chest, and panic that hits too easily. You avoid tasks, conversations, or people, keeping you stuck, and the pressure makes focusing hard. Somatic therapy can help release the stress and trauma stored in your body, allowing you to finally move forward.

I have successfully worked with clients on a wide range of issues including adapting to physical illness, struggling with eating disorders, overcoming depression and anxiety, as well as those needing to reconnect with themselves.
Asking for help can be a very difficult thing to do. Many people think going to a counselor means that they're admitting that they can't handle their lives or that they've totally lost control. In fact, talking to a therapist means that you are taking your happiness into your own hands. Have feelings of depression, anxiety, guilt or fear been getting in the way of your happiness? There may have been a family, health or financial situation that led you to the place you're at right now or maybe you are just looking for more.

It is my belief that everyone can and should benefit from therapy; whether suffering from severe mental illness or simply looking for a road map. Truly knowing oneself is an integral part of the lifelong journey toward self actualization. Unfortunately, stigma discourages many from taking advantage of our profession.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
