I have a decade of clinical experience in treating Mood Disorders, Anxiety, Trauma, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
Our goals and ambitions in life are forever changing. As values and priorities shift over time, what used to meet our needs, may no longer work for us in the here and now. In order to embrace personal growth, learning to first accept ourselves, just as we are, is key. For many, this can sound like the exact opposite of what change is all about, especially if we feel stuck, unfulfilled, embarrassed, or ashamed. If you feel like something is holding you back from living life as you envision it, therapy can be an empowering next step.

I do a lot of work with teens and adults who are highly sensitive, and who may have experienced past trauma or family conflict.
Deciding to begin counseling is one of the best and most important decisions you can make. Successful counseling begins with the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client. Trust is at the heart of being able to be vulnerable and honest. This is why I put significant effort into establishing rapport and creating a safe space, free of judgment, for you to feel comfortable discussing difficult issues. The goal is a harmonious relationship where you feel safe to address your feelings, ideas, worries, struggles, and dreams. Strong communication will allow us to move toward the changes you want.

My training includes cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and trauma informed therapy to empower you to develop emotional awareness, increase problem solving skills, improve relationships, create balanced living, influence positive change, and improve self-worth to reach the quality of life you desire.
Life is full of circumstances that often take us by surprise; leaving us feeling out of control and struggling to move forward with our own plans and goals. While we may not have chosen our current circumstances, the way we choose to think and feel about these circumstances is within our control. Choosing to seek counseling can be the first courageous step you take towards finding workable solutions to life's unexpected stressors.

If you or a loved one is struggling with trauma, or any other mental health issues for that matter, I would love to help.
I have a big heart and I love to help others. Ever since I was a little girl my mother would tell me that I was going to grow up to help people for a living and it turns out she was right! I'm willing to help whoever needs it but one population in particular that I have a lot of experience with is children and teenagers who have been through trauma. I have always been very passionate about trauma work so much so that I got an extra certification in it!

My education along with my life experiences makes me a relatable, nonjudgmental, empathic counselor and I would love the opportunity to help you obtain the tools to improve communication in your relationships, grow in deeper connection with them, and heal from your trauma.
It has been said that real change does not occur until what you are doing no longer serves you. Do you long to feel emotionally safe in your relationships? Tired of having the same argument with your partner/spouse and wish things could be different and feel like giving up? Would you like to learn how to improve communication in all your relationships and how to deepen your connection with them? Do you feel overwhelmed, disrespected, or invalidated in arguments? Would you like help processing traumatic experience?

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
