My ideal client is striving to heal and "level up" in life physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. You're done feeling like you're just "moving through the motions" - you want to take intentional steps to regain your enjoyment and pursuit of living a fulfilling, free, and healed life. Right now, you might feel exhausted, anxious, stuck in unhealthy habits, depressed, unmotivated, traumatized by past painful experiences and might not have a sense of connectedness or purpose in life. You desire to take sustainable steps of rebuilding your life to bring the best version of you to the surface.

I believe everyone has a story that stitches them together to make them who they become. The journey to complete wholeness of that story sometimes requires assistance, and I believe that’s where I come in.

Life threw a curve ball out of left field and now you are isolating and overwhelmed. The path you thought you were going to follow, changed, and there is a fork in the road. In those moments of deep isolation, overwhelming pain, and intense confusion, you don't have to feel alone. It's normal to feel unsure about what next steps to take and it maybe difficult to open up to others around you. Your story is significant, your voice matters, and your emotions are valid.

I am committed to providing a sanctuary for healing and restoration where clinical excellence meets compassionate care. I believe in a holistic approach to wellness that acknowledges the entire person — body, mind, and spirit. My practice is dedicated to offering the highest standards of pharmacotherapy and clinical medicine, harmoniously integrated with pastoral counseling, to support not just the alleviation of symptoms but the pursuit of wholeness and well-being. We are guided by the scriptural truth that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), deserving care that honors the intricate design of the human constitution. In alignment with biblical wisdom, we advocate for a therapeutic approach that is patient-centered, as we hold fast to the teaching that each person is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), warranting respect and dignity in every aspect of care. As a pastoral counselor, I aim to embody these qualities, creating an environment of empathy and understanding. Pastoral care counseling instills hope, grounded in the transformative power of faith.

Although I see clients with a wide range of DSM-5 presentations, my specialization encompasses all forms of Clinical Depression, including but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia), Cyclothymia, Bipolar I & II, and Schizoaffective Disorder. Change is inevitable; no one stays the same in their life journey. I am passionate about helping others walk through the mountains and valleys in life growing stronger by building their inner strength. Each one of us has wounds and scars but they do not have to define who we are. I love working with individuals, couples, and families to draw on the positive qualities of each member in the family system in order to guide the family toward a more mentally healthier life. Connection is the secret ingredient to your overall well being. When we honor our pain by sharing it, we can heal it. Remaining silent can give power to the pain.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
