Throughout a therapeutic process, I can help you to develop coping skills based on CBT approaches to learn how to challenge negative thinking, regulate your emotions, practice mindfulness, manage stress, increase self- acceptance and compassion, and to practice assertive communication and healthy boundaries.
Having anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD related symptoms, unprocessed trauma, panic attacks, anger, burnout from work and having difficulty to cope with life transitions are common concerns that a lot of people experience without knowing how to manage it. Attending treatment is a safe space to express how you feel and think without being judged, where you can learn how to manage your mental health concerns and to recognize some of the root causes of them. Therapy may help you to learn tools to make positive changes in your behavior, mood, interpersonal relationships, belief system and to process childhood trauma connected.

Experience the power of acceptance and compassion.
You’ve been struggling with emotional relationships, insecure attachments, anxiety disorders, and trauma that has led to feelings of loneliness and disconnection. Even focusing on things that are meaningful to you has been difficult. You feel pressured to be perfect and believe you’re not good enough for a relationship, a job, or even to be kind to yourself. Those internal wounds have gone unaddressed for so long that you can’t connect with your emotions, practice self-compassion, trust in your abilities, or cultivate meaningful relationships.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is an essential part of the healing process. To foster the therapeutic relationship I incorporate trust, respect, and authenticity into my work. I provide an open, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment where my clients can feel at ease. My goal for my clients is two-fold. In the short term, I'd like to help clients get some relief and to ease some of the symptoms they may be experiencing. In the longer term, I hope to get to the bottom of the feelings, concerns and dilemmas that cause such symptoms.

I’ve been fortunate to work in a variety of settings while helping a diverse group of individuals. I spent several years working in Veterans’ Hospitals, where I helped veterans and their families work through issues including chronic pain, community re-assimilation, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and whatever may have been important to them. Additionally, I have also provided therapy through community mental health centers, Hospice services, and rehabilitative/long-term nursing centers. All of these experiences helped me build experience and expertise to begin my own private practice.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
