With my experience in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I offer support in healing the wounds that life may have left behind.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling to keep up with life's demands, or constantly questioning why your relationships aren't flourishing, you've landed in the right place. Life's challenges can sometimes overshadow our sense of self, particularly if you've experienced trauma, a challenging childhood, or a difficult pregnancy or birthing journey.

For my part, I bring skills in evidence-based clinical practices, including mindfulness and self-compassion, EMDR, and hypnosis.
Life doesn't come with instructions. We make the best choices we're capable of, and still at times we find ourselves feeling powerless within our circumstances. In these moments, we may require guidance to navigate the course or even to decide which course to navigate.

I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I specialize in working with people who are struggling with healing from traumatic/abusive experiences, those who have a poor/disconnected relationship with themselves, and people who are having a hard time managing or decreasing anxiety. I am especially passionate about guiding people through family-of-origin trauma, perfectionism, and self-criticism. I teach my clients how to look inward for approval and validation, versus externally from others. My goal is to guide my clients to their own inner power, learn to heal themselves, and find liberation from a life lead by fear. I take a bottom-up approach, with a focus on embodiment.

My approach combines traditional talk therapy, EMDR, and mindfulness.
First of all, I just want to honor you for taking this step to invest in yourself. Working on yourself isn't easy but you don't have to do it alone. You recognize that you aren't happy or that you might be feeling stuck in your life but that something has to change. What keeps you where you are at? We can't keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. If you are ready to do something different, I want to help support you in that. I work with clients who are open and ready to learn new tools/ways to break their own limiting beliefs, create new ones, and embody the best version of themselves.

These interventions include clinical hypnosis, EMDR and EFT (emotional freedom technique).
Modern day life is overwhelming; we're all having to balance our regular roles and responsibilities, while navigating the uncertainty of what life will look like while we deal with COVID for the foreseeable future. If ever there was a time when we all can use a little help, it's now. Some suggest that people who seek therapy are weak. In truth, those who care enough about their emotional health to seek professional counseling are the strong fortunate ones. We have all been wounded, have suffered loss, or are otherwise affected by events that may have happened in our lives--you don't have to be the victim of those things!

To get to the root of emotionally driven behaviors, I offer Internal Family Systems Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, and mindfulness based interventions to help navigate blocks that keep you from fulfillment.
Navigating life’s challenges can be tough, particularly when you are in “push through it” mode and neglecting the parts of your life that help you to thrive. This is when you are most vulnerable to anxiety and depression and most likely to fall out of attunement with your best self. Relationships begin to suffer and sometimes it's hard to plow through the weight of past judgments, prejudices, feelings of shame, and guilt. Those types of past experiences can feel like unwelcome guests and their impact can be profound, but if we can learn to turn toward them with openness and understanding, change can be found around the corner.

Utilizing EMDR, talk therapy, mindfulness and other tools; I support people as they find wholeness, healing, and empowerment within themselves.
Sometimes life has you saying this — is bananas. No matter how small or big the issue, reaching out for help can make all the difference in helping us to deal with whatever life throws our way. I believe that counseling has the ability to set people free, help them to find peace, reconnect, and can open their eyes to the infinite possibilities there are when we take the time to invest in ourselves, our relationships, and our overall well-being.

EMDR therapy has been recognized in research studies as being effective in many areas, yet is particularly effective for persons who have witnessed or experienced traumatic events.
There is nothing I enjoy more than to see the transformation that can take place during the therapy process. It is inspiring to witness peoples ability to change their perspective about themselves and about their individual problems. My goal is to provide a safe environment for people to learn and grow into people they choose and my role is to guide them in the process. I specialize in working with persons who have experienced trauma and primarily use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy to heal past wounds. EMDR's mission is to create global healing, health and hope.

As human beings we are wired for connection. Acknowledging past trauma, working through the pain and coming out on the other side are key steps to relational healing with others and ourselves. The world we live in is overwhelmingly unpredictable, which can lead us to not only numb our own emotions, but also hinders our capacity to communicate in healthier ways, build meaningful relationships, connect, be intentionally productive, or engage in much needed acts of self-care. Feeling the weight of one or more past traumatic or stressful experiences can easily cripple our ability to shift away from destructive behavior patterns. You may be feeling stuck– uncertain of who you are, what you want, and what you deserve, or maybe you’re caught in the spiral of believing that you don’t deserve more than what you have now.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
