Are you and I a "good fit"? Hi! My name is Bonnie Brown. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years' experience. It is my belief that for any therapeutic relationship to be successful, the personalities of both the client and the therapist must be a good fit. While it takes time for any relationship to gel or come together with mutual respect and trust, you can usually tell within the first meeting whether or not there will be a good fit. My joy is in helping you find your joy.

Hello! My name is Satara Carr (MH12963). My philosophy is to take the guesswork out of therapy. Therapy doesn't have to be difficult, and difficult does not mean impossible. This philosophy has led me to help clients aspire to create their own destinies and to be the change that they desire. My mission is to motivate, encourage and guide you to your healthier self. My work focuses on several issues, including anger management, depression, anxiety, and postpartum adjustment, to name a few. I work with clients who understand that sometimes we need additional support to navigate life's challenges.

I specialize in relationships of all types (parental, sibling, romantic relationship, collegial, etc.). If you find yourself struggling with unhealthy relationship patterns, isolation, social withdrawal, or low self-esteem, you may benefit from participating in therapy. Quite often, symptoms of depression and anxiety can be traced to interpersonal conflict or difficulty connecting with others. I enjoy leading people through the process of self-discovery to assist them in making sense of their life experiences. This often leads people to gain a greater understanding of themselves and the ways in which they relate to others.

Is your relationship in big trouble? Then you want RESULTS. Practical, no-nonsense changes get you over the stuck part. Results don't come from analyzing the past, labeling you with some disorder, or dredging up every last hurt feeling and resentment you ever had. Real results come from being trained how to make changes that create happiness and connection. What I do is relationship TRAINING. There may be some things you need to learn or forgiveness or maturity that needs to improve. I am direct and straight-forward. Start getting the success you want with the specific skills, support and suggestions you need to make changes.

I have been blessed with the heart for serving others. For the past 15 years, I have worked in various roles with children of all ages. While working with children at a youth residential shelter, I discovered the extensive amount of children that were involved in the juvenile justice system in our area, as well as the amount of children needing mental health services. For the last 8 years, I have worked as a Registered Behavior Therapist providing applied behavior analysis (ABA therapy) to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

Like war, trauma from adult and childhood abuse, hurt from church and family have left many of us just limping through life. Just because you are use to the pain, it doesn't mean you or your love ones should continue to live with the pain. I am honest and I like to see results. I also like to work with clients that are ready to be honest and put in the work to see their desired results. I primarily see adult women with trauma and couples in need of support! My office has clinicians that see individuals of all ages! I am also a Qualified Supervisor that is passionate about supporting Registered Interns on their licensing journey!

Your mind is a racing machine that you can't seem to turn off! Scary and bothersome thoughts keep popping in your mind! You try to block them but they keep comping back. You can't be fully present or really enjoy yourself because they are so loud so often! Simple tasks now take forever because you battle the urge to check or repeat things over and over. You are embarrassed that people may think you're weird! But they just don't understand what it's like to think things you don't want to think and do things you know don't always make sense. You just want the thoughts and worries to stop so you can feel like yourself again.

I enjoy working with women, young adults, and first responders in the areas of anxiety, stress, self-esteem, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, trauma, and life transitions. It is within the context of our relationship with self and others that we find or lose balance. It can be hard communicating our feelings and needs with others in an effective way. I offer a whole person, mind-body approach to treatment within the context of a safe and trustworthy therapeutic relationship.

Tired of behavior that gets in the way of your goals? Discouraged that you take one step forward and two steps back? Imagine feeling extremely good about yourself once you’ve aligned your behavior with what you actually want in life. If you find yourself setting goals, and struggling to stick with them, you have come to the right place. Do you want to increase positive behaviors (exercise, healthy eating, self care) or decrease negative behaviors (substance use, eating disorders, self harm)? Are mental health issues standing between you and the life you want? Do you need support for the everyday problems that keep adding up?

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
