Not accepting new clients
***I'm not currently able to accept new clients*** Feeling exhausted from needing to control and perfect everything, please everyone and always pretend you have it all together? That ever-present voice that constantly makes you feel "not enough." Worrying that you're letting others down and disappointing them. It's an EXHAUSTING way to live your life. BUT! Profound healing IS possible. Using powerful tools and techniques to heal what is driving these behaviors. IMAGINE your life with a calm, peaceful and confident mind, not needing to control or perfect everything. Being able to speak your truth.

The thoughts of harming yourself are a hard thing for a lot of people to comprehend, which can make even asking for help seem impossible. It’s often hard to reach out to close friends or family…nevermind some stranger that says that they can help. I strive to offer every client a supportive, non-judgmental approach to help explore where you are at, how you’ve been coping with it, and what a tomorrow that is worth living for would truly look like. No one starts cutting or thinking about suicide without a good reason. No matter what your reason is, it matters, even if others have told you otherwise.

While I am currently in my final year of my Master's, I have practiced for three years as a Prevention Counselor, in which I counseled those struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors, low self-esteem, and addictions.
Recognizing the immense challenge that accompanies embarking on a journey of healing, I am committed to offering support to make those initial steps and subsequent ones less daunting. I firmly believe that true healing originates from within, and as such, I guide my clients in delving into their struggles, aspirations, and unique pathways toward progress. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, my dedication remains unwavering in helping them surmount life's obstacles and navigate through hardships toward a brighter future.

My work usually begins when someone has reached their breaking point. What’s worked in the past is no longer effective and there is a feeling of being stuck and/or hopelessness. Whether you are dealing with self harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, trauma, or difficulties regulating emotions, thoughts and behaviors I can support you. Through my practice I help clients develop self-awareness and behavioral strategies that can be practiced and infused into daily life. Let's work together on taking your next step.

When you try to bring up what might be going on with your gifted girl, she cries (or worse, yells!) every. time. School, extracurricular activities, being around new people- these all bring on very strong emotions. It can be too much for one person (you). You know she is dealing with ton of anxiety and you are starting to worry she is teetering on depression. Your teen’s experience in therapy will lead them (and you!) to know that they are strong, supported and capable of walking through difficult emotions. The process will allow them to grow in their ability to feel emotions in their body and reconnect with their deepest self.

I feel honored, to be trusted as I am, in walking each individual through the depths of pain and towards renewed hope. Have you felt stuck or like you continue a pattern of self-destruction despite the consequences? Don't lose hope. I can help you identify the core messages that perpetuate this pain. I will meet you where you are at so you are certain to have the support necessary to see this through. No issue is too big to be broken down into a workable plan of action. Let's join together. No one should walk this alone.

Sometimes we become better at seeming to be well, rather than actually being well. Living our fullest lives comes when we are aligned mind, body, and soul. This life of wellness is a delicate balance that can be impacted by life and other circumstances leaving us looking for a change. Therapy doesn't have to be a last resort when we're struggling and feel out of options; perhaps it is just the next step to wellness. Working with a therapist can be helpful in finding and maintaining your balance, to reconnect with your authentic self.

Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
