Presently I only see mental health professionals-Psychiatrists, Psychologists, masters level clinicians. We can discuss issues you are dealing with your clients/patients if that is what is on your mind, in addition to focusing on your own issues People frequently discover they are "excessively" hard and critical of themselves. Reducing this has an profound positive effect. My approach leads to gaining a realistic perspective and reducing hidden self- patterns and unrecognized chronic guilt and shame. Regardless of the reason, making life work and experiencing more comfort is the goal

I know you want to be confident, easy-going, and present in your life, but you may struggle feeling overwhelmed and stuck. In order to cope effectively with life’s challenges, it’s important to understand your current patterns and the reason you’re unable to meet your goals. Then, you can begin to change them to show up as your ideal self. The problem is, it’s difficult to figure this cycle out on your own. Most of us were never taught how to communicate, manage difficult emotions, or cope in general. In therapy, I'll help you move forward, so you can begin to show up for yourself, others, and live a meaningful life.

Psychotherapy provides a safe and supportive environment to achieve your highest potential. In therapy, you discover new ways of coping, different points of view, hidden strengths, and an improved outlook on life. Life is filled with the need to change and adapt to new circumstances. Some changes, like marriage, parenting, graduation, and moves, are expected, while events like loss, separation, trauma, and illness are unexpected and more difficult to overcome. Psychotherapy will help you find a new outlook, discover strengths, address difficulties with different tools, and apply the new experiences to future challenges.

I am an adult and pediatric psychologist. Having been a practicing psychologist for over 20 years, my focus is cognitive behavior therapy. This involves changing the irrational beliefs behind stress, anxiety, and depression. Some of my specialties include women's issues, trauma, rape, OCD, teens, children, divorce, drug & alcohol related issues. Life is stressful. It sometimes feels like it's just too much to handle. Perhaps you are feeling tired all the time, anxious, depressed, unfulfilled in your relationships or job, or as though you are going through the motions of life experiencing little joy. You are not alone.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists

How does motivational interviewing work?

Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.

Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?

Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.

How long does motivational interviewing last?

Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.

What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?

In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
