I take an eclectic approach to therapy & pull from several different approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Person Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness.
My focus within my clinical work is with individuals ages 13+ experiencing issues related to trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, family or relationship issues, and major life transitions. I am knowledgeable about how trauma impacts our overall well-being and functioning, and am passionate about helping those who have experienced trauma or other significant life events. I truly believe that therapy is collaborative, and therefore work side by side with clients to identify the best approach and move forward towards healing.

I advocate for and am extremely familiar with Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
When I imagine the “ideal client” I do not see a specific person. I see is someone who desires change and is willing to put in the work to attain it. I imagine someone who is willing to be vulnerable, open-minded, and trusting of the therapeutic process. This person understands that there will be hurdles along the way, but they recognize that they do not have to face those hurdles alone. It is my responsibility as a therapist to create an environment where all my clients feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I hope to get the chance to help those who allow me to do so.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology and strengths-based approaches in my sessions with clients.
I work with couples and individuals. I have experience in helping clients with depression, stress/anxiety, self worth/love/acceptance, relationship issues, family conflicts, parenting, vocational stress, among other daily life stressors. Most of my clients define their reason for coming to therapy as simply wanting something more from life and relationships. Often having trouble getting past thoughts and emotions that prevent them from moving forward. We will work together to get to the core of your troubling thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This allows you to move forward to a more fulfilling life of purpose and direction.

I take an integrative approach to therapeutic work, utilizing evidenced-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavior, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy.
Going to therapy was one of the hardest journeys I have taken in life. Getting over the fear of being judged, labeled, and uncomfortable were the hardest parts. My experience in receiving therapy has given me insight to what it’s like on the other side of the couch and motivated me to provide the best clinical care possible. While the journey may be difficult to start, it is one that will never be in vain. Congratulations on taking your first step.

I utilize many approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy and Systemic approaches.
I am ready to be a part of your journey toward complete wellness. I have responded to my call to bring hope, to encourage, to empower, to bind the broken-hearted, and to help liberate the mind. People are hurting, and they need hope. Sadly, there are many who are hurting because they have lost all hope. People need to be encouraged and know that they are not here by mistake. Those with no hope don’t understand that they have a purpose, and I have made it my mission to help bring hope to those that are hopeless. I understand the connection between mental/spiritual health and physical health.

As a clinical social worker, I provide therapy from the standpoint of a mentor, teacher, as well as a guide, in order for clients to have control over their treatment. I use an eclectic mixture of approaches, including strength based, psychoeducational, narrative and cognitive behavioral therapies. Meeting clients where they are is what we do best No medication is prescribed in my office currently as I am not a physician and there is not one on staff, but I do work with many physicians from around the area. I will gladly refer to a physician if medication management is needed or a clinical psychologist for formal testing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.
When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.
How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.
Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
