Wanting to teach brought me to counseling, which ironically, has allowed me to explore the journey of life with those who seek guidance, and it is the aspect I perhaps love most about being a clinician. I am passionate about community which has led me to working with individuals, young adults, couples and their families in diverse settings such as private practice, therapeutic schools, outpatient treatment, residential treatment, and criminal justice settings.

Life is a journey and often times we encounter periods of unrest, difficulty and confusion. My work with people confirms that no experience in life is meant to debilitate but only to be understood. I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Florida and New York. I practice full time in Florida. I have 20 years of experience in private practice treating all age groups and a variety of concerns and mental/ emotional disorders. My practice is eclectic and considers many treatments tailored to the individual. I accept insurance and offer a sliding scale in accordance with your ability to pay.

Rather than adopting a “one size fits all“ model, my approach is flexible and responsive to the changing needs of my clients. The therapy process is active both on your part and mine. Different approaches may be needed at different times in the process. Research on effective clinical practices and my 35+ years of clinical experience will help us decide together on what may be helpful to you. Therapy approaches such as Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness based approaches as well as other relational approaches that are supported by scientific research can be brought together in an integrated manner.

I am of the belief that self love lends to a happier and more fulfilling life. Unfortunately, self love is not something that is intrinsic in many people raised in society today. Much of the work I do is to assist clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves so that they may discover the power, passion, and innate joy that lies within. Often times when we are unknowingly disconnected from our internal experience, we may find that we direct significant judgment inward, which lends to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and shame. By opening our minds and expanding our view we can unlock the key to self love.

I enjoy working with all types of individuals in various walks of life. I have worked with individuals with depression, anxiety, and anger issues to name a few. Working to help individuals cope with life's challenges. I have also spent time in the school system working with adolescents with school issues and life challenges, and college students as a spiritual counselor and life coach. I strongly believe that our experiences shape our perspectives and influence how we move through our lives. Every individual is unique. While being impacted by social, cultural, economic, and spiritual experiences, I acknowledge that within each person lies inherent strengths to draw from towards healing and growth. My goal is to help each person discover and build upon those strengths in a safe environment, establishing a collaborative relationship with which we can work together through a tailored, integrated approach. I am honest and non-enabling in my approach as a social worker.

I can help you do the work necessary to make moving toward a fulfilling experience, assisting you in accepting and even embracing whatever point you've currently reached on your journey through life. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to counseling. I utilize different approaches depending on your needs. My goal is to create a safe and warm space where you can feel seen, heard and understood.

From her rich experience in creating home studies for pre-adoptive parents, Harriet understands the losses felt by her clients who are affected by infertility. She enjoys working with couples, helping them to solidify their relationship and in helping children to heal and to grow. Working with couples and families, Harriet helps reinforce attachments and helps family members with anxiety, depression or anger.
