I have over 25 years of experience working with families and youth at risk including residential, home visits and office settings. I offer individual, group, family and couples counselling covering a wide variety of mental health issues. Anger management, domestic violence, sexual abuse, depression, parenting, relationship issues and phase of life issues are the most common themes that I deal with. I can tailor sessions to individual needs, work with all age groups and am available mornings or evenings on any weekday. I have an office in Inverness and can do home visits as well.

With the world in such chaos, it is a challenge to navigate our spiritual, physical, and emotional health and wholeness. It is my aim to connect with my clients at the point of their hurt. Clients are usually hurting or struggling with childhood emotional trauma, grief (loss of a loved one, a relationship, or loss of themselves), depression, overwhelming life events, anxiety, or self-esteem issues.

Sometimes we may not know what is truly going on underneath, due to a heightened state of emotions. What would it look like to address those concerns as a couple or individual?

Dory brings a warm, compassionate and caring energy to her clients. She specializes in improving self-worth, helping couples and families resolve conflicts and develop powerful communication skills, effective parenting strategies, making life transitions, reducing anxiety and creating healthy boundaries. Most importantly, she instills hope, helps you create possibilities and develop a sense of inner peace. Her counseling philosophy is to listen without judgment and try to understand who you are, walk alongside you with compassion, and provide guidance and authentic feedback by coaching you through the process to create solutions.

Therapy is a very personal and important step towards creating the life you want and deserve. I take great care to make sure my interventions are both scientifically sound and best practices. I enjoy doing work with couples and use the Gottman Method to help couples work through difficult issues in their marriage. I also enjoy Individual therapy, focusing on trauma, psychological illness and self-growth. I have experience with clients of all ages, gender and psychological disorders.

My relational and down-to-earth approach to counseling combined with my training, knowledge, and experience allows me to provide effective outpatient, individualized, counseling services. I focus on individual strengths and needs while building and working towards treatment goals with you. I offer you a safe, judgement free environment to help you work through difficult issues. I treat a number of mental health issues and provide a neutral ground to individuals. No longer offering couples therapy.
