Are you struggling in your relationships? Do you feel stuck? Our perspective shapes our experience in life, condition of our hearts, and inner life. Our mental and behavioral health stems from our minds, emotions, and spirit being aligned. When we are able to process and heal from trauma, develop insight, express our feelings in a supportive environment, and practice skills; we begin LivingWell outwardly. Then, we cultivate healthy connections, communication, and relationships. Change occurs from the inside then flows out.

Welcome. Many of my clients have experienced pain, disconnection, inconsistent routines, a low sense of self, or live with complicated big/deep feelings. They struggle with perfectionism. They have a hard time letting others in. They had unsafe, harmful, or invalidating experiences. It has stayed with them. They struggle to connect to their emotional world. Some tend to overextend themselves, ignore their needs, and feel wrong for putting themselves first. Some learned to tough things out, suppress, and hold it all in. Some feel lost and in the dark. They wonder how to process, understand, and heal, and have deeper connections.

Throughout life, we face life changes, identity and personal crises, losses, and possible disconnection with ourselves and with others. When we begin to explore these changes in a safe and supportive space, we may begin to authentically express our needs and desires, while also creating and maintaining healthy boundaries for ourselves. Creating a life of greater joy and abundance is achieved through honest and open communication, reflection, and a deeper relationship with ourselves and with others.

You’re driven and ambitious, but sometimes you find yourself stuck on the couch, overwhelmed by anxiety, procrastination, and perfectionism. Some days you’re on top of the world, and others, you constantly second-guess yourself. You feel the pressure to keep it together, balancing your job, relationships, and life... and you are tired. You get in your own head and escape through mindless eating, drinking, doom scrolling, and sleepless nights, but deep down, you have big goals. The fog of self-doubt and fear of failure makes it hard to get started, and you’re ready for a change.

These interventions, along with IFS and DBT skills, make up the backbone of how I do evidence-based psychotherapy.
Hi there! I'm Sarah, and I work with individuals (teens & adults) struggling with grief, anxiety, and trauma. A specific area of interest for me has been working with those who have tried therapy in the past, but for whatever reason had difficulty showing up fully in the counseling space. My aim is to change that narrative with relational psychotherapy, somatic processing, & EMDRIA approved EMDR. I have clinical experience working in areas such as depression, shame, self-harm, suicidal ideation, body-image issues, eating disorders, life transitions, faith-based issues, relational challenges, phobias, addiction, & self-esteem.

In turn my primary theoretical concepts that I utilize in helping clients are CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT ( Dialectical Behavior Therapy).
My ideal client is one that is able to do three things. First, my ideal client should be one that is can acknowledge that he/she has an issue/issues that is/are getting in the way of allowing him/her to live a healthy lifestyle. Second, my ideal client is one that is able to take that first step to bringing themselves into therapy. If they have support, that would be even better for that will hopefully increase the chances of long term success. Finally, my ideal client will be one that is not just coming into sessions when they are required, but that they are doing the work outside sessions that is needed to have success.

All the therapeutic modalities I work in are trauma-informed, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), CBT, and DBT.
Hi and welcome. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative partnership between you and your therapist. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist trained in EMDR, understanding trauma and its effect on a person's day to day functioning is a powerful tool to help those who are struggling. It is okay to ask for help - we all need it at some point. Please reach out and give me a call. We can chat to learn if I would be the best fit.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
