“I am currently accepting new clients, however, it is important to note that I do not have any afterschool, evening or weekend appointments available." I'm a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who has been in the mental health field for almost 20 years. For most of my career I've focused on working with children, adolescents and families offering them support and guidance, but I also enjoy working with adults. My approach is to meet clients where they're at and work together on reaching the goals that are identified.

Everyone encounters challenges in their life that may feel overwhelming. Seeking the help of a therapist during these times is a sign of strength, as it suggests the willingness to address problems rather than avoid them. Therapy can be a time of learning about yourself, facing your fears, and growing in different areas of life. I see my role as empowering you to achieve your best possible life. I enjoy working with my clients' strengths and goals to help them create happiness and health in their lives. I can help strengthen your positive coping strategies and regain a more balanced life.

Hi there! I'm Stacy, a social worker, working as a therapist. I pride myself on making my clients feel at ease when sharing space with me. Coming to therapy can be vulnerable and scary. When we meet, the space will be free of judgment and criticism; you will be met with affirmations, validations, maybe some questions, and pause to consider a different lens.

We all have a story. I believe our stories and experiences deserve a trusting space to process free from judgment. Within the therapeutic relationship, I aim to empower individuals to honor their stories with empathy through nuances of language and self-exploration. When we are given a validating space to understand ourselves in relation to our experiences, we are capable of making meaningful changes in our lives. Through curiosity and collaboration, I support people’s natural ability to heal in the wake of hardship.

The first session is all about getting to you. Here is also when you can ask me questions (including personal ones within reason). After the 1st session then it is 100% all about you. I like to tell me clients it isn't about me, it's about you. This is your time. During the initial intake process we go over your goals for treatment.

I understand that reaching out for help can be one of the hardest steps to take, especially when you’re used to being the one others rely on. As a United States Marine and someone who comes from a family of first responders, I know firsthand the unique challenges and pressures that come with serving others. I’ve been in that place where it feels like the weight of your experiences is just too heavy to carry alone, and I’m here to let you know that you don’t have to.

The clients I have enjoyed working with have wanted to work on some aspect of themselves, like improving their sense of self worth, or trying to understand why their relationships typically didn't work out, or simply just trying to cope with the day to day. My clients come from a wide background of cultures, such as: the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities; those with a criminal background; those with a history of substance abuse/dependence; those suffering from chronic pain/illness; and those with a history of trauma. I welcome all walks of life in my office and work hard to continually educate myself in multicultural issues.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
