Welcome and thank you for considering me as a potential provider. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with an intrinsic passion for helping others. Growing up in a military family, I was exposed to diverse populations with varying levels of need. From a young age, I have felt compelled to serve others. I have experience serving children, adolescents, and adults facing a variety of challenges, including mood symptoms, behavioral issues, trauma, relationship issues, and educational challenges.

I love working with individuals and families and have been for 8 years in the New River Valley in a wide variety of roles. My approach is tailored for each client, situation and goal to find what works best for each unique individual. I use an eclectic approach and embrace a person-centered philosophy to best meet my client's needs and take joy in helping others explore and achieve personal goals to live a healthier and happier life.

Life is complex. There are times when anxiety, depression, trauma, personal issues (relationships, family, career), and substances are experienced. And there are times where joy and excitement are experienced. You need a safe, nonjudgmental, and trusting space to talk about your experience, feel validated and heard, explore solutions, and press forward in your success. My therapeutic style is laid-back, warmth, empathic, compassionate, strength oriented, and lastly using humor to therapeutically laugh during times when it is appropriate. Yozaira Leon-Santiago, Virginia License 0701008987. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 10 years of experience in the behavioral healthcare field. Currently I am a Bilingual (Spanish) mental health clinician in a detention center working with young immigrants. Before that, I served as MST (Multisystemic) therapist in the community that dealt with juveniles with serious criminal offenses and are possibly abusing substances. I am experienced with the emotional problems that occur in adults, adolescents and children. I have specialized training with family therapy, trauma depression and anxiety.

I began helping others in 1990 as a Peer Counselor (Drug Exemption NCO) while on active duty in the Marine Corps. After earning degrees in Psychology and Social Work at UNCW/ECU, I obtained licensure to practice independently with the Virginia Board of Health Professionals in 2004. I am originally from the Hampton Roads area but have worked internationally with people from many different backgrounds. I have continued to support the military, as well as the community at large, for over 3 decades with evidence-based treatments for trauma (PTSD).

I believe that counseling is most effective when it is designed by the participant and fits their individual or family needs. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and holds certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma Treatment. I have experience working with children and their families to strengthen attachment, manage complex traumatic experiences, and overcome anxiety, depression, suicidality, isolation, and negative patterns of behavior.

Sherry L. Shuler is a licensed therapist who prioritizes understanding your individual situation and who works to tailor treatment to address your specific needs while maintaining a welcoming, and comfortable atmosphere. Sherry is committed to providing clients with the highest quality care regardless of economic status, religion, race, ethnicity, lifestyle preferences or cultural differences.

Overcoming depression, anxiety, and trauma is possible. My approach to therapy includes active listening and empathetic understanding. Together, my clients and I can find practical solutions to the challenges that depression, anxiety, and trauma bring. I work with adolescents, college students, and adults at any stage of life, with additional expertise in substance use counseling, counseling women, and military/veteran servicemembers and their family members.

I have spent 10 years working with clients who struggle with mental health and/or addiction. Client "specialties" are as follows (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma, substance use, parenting/attachment, ineffective communication, career counseling and relationship or family systems issues.

Hannah’s comprehensive, person-centered approach to therapy, prioritizes the overall well-being of the client and maintains alignment with their personal goals.

Dana holds a Master's Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 6 years of experience providing various levels of care to clients. Dana has experience in crisis counseling through a 24/7 program and completing psychiatric evaluations. Dana also has worked with children and families in their homes providing family therapy. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and family conflict. Dana enjoys working with young adults and helping them navigate the many changes that occur during young adulthood.Dana focuses on building rapport with clients and helping clients feel empowered.
