I am here to walk the journey alongside you. Life presents many challenges and adapting to a new "normal" is hard and perception can be glum. It feels like your sense of direction is confusing and uncertain. Relationships have lost their meaning, abundance and joy feel unattainable, and support stands at too far a distance for you to feel grounded in love and security.

Feeling steady and rooted in relationships with ourselves and others can help establish a foundation for a greater sense of wellbeing. Through a relational and attachment-focused approach, I support people hoping to have a deeper understanding of themselves and their connections with those around them (friends, family, community, etc.). This may include exploring cultural and ancestral identity, which is another component of someone better knowing who they are and how they engage with the world around them. I am also here for helping professionals seeking support through compassion fatigue and feeling overworked from their careers.

Don't know where to start? That is okay. We can start with a conversation and start processing together. To me, counseling is a place to grow a relationship, to learn about what is going on, and to have a conversation to broaden self awareness without judgement. It can be about family, work, relationships, season of life and feeling stuck, frustrated, resentful, exhausted, or numb. It's most important to me that the environment feels safe and for us to think about how change and growth can happen, how to reframe and take control of the environment around them, and to find strength and confidence to take care of yourself.

My office hours are flexible to accommodate your work and family schedule.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 15 years of experience working with multiple people in the therapy room dealing with relationship issues. This training prepared me to ensure that everyone has an active part of the therapeutic process. I believe that therapy is a collaborative approach where a trusting therapeutic relationship is established and used to identify existing strengths and workable solutions. I also believe that my role is to assist individuals, couples or families in developing skills that address there presenting concerns and continue to be useful beyond the end of therapy.

I believe in an integrated approach to therapy and offer interventions most appropriate to the individual/ family.
My favorite part about being a clinician is witnessing that moment when a person realizes their own power for change. My intent as a therapist is to help make your journey for change possible. I have a passion for helping people understand that symptoms of depression, anxiety and other disorders are only a part of who we are. They do not define us. I have made it my mission to help people learn to work with and co-exist with their symptoms in a healthy way, allowing for a better quality of life.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
