in Family Life and an M.
My passion and commitment are to help individuals and couples become whole in every area of their life; so they can be the best versions of their selves. I lead each session with empathy, warmth, and focus; so that we can get to the “root" of the problem, which often leads to additional stress, depression, and anxiety. My grounding belief is that we are all broken in different ways and in different places, but you do not have to remain broken.

I utilize a combination of evidenced based treatments including Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
It takes a great deal of bravery to take the first step in receiving support for yourself or your child. Perhaps you’re here because you're scared you or your child’s behavior around food, exercise, or body image has become a serious concern. I’m here to help! I have experience working with adolescents and young adults with various eating disorder diagnoses including: Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). I love navigating body image concerns. I also work with anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder in children.

As a counselor, my passion is helping people find hope in their healing process. It's about making commitments to healing in order to become your best self with a partner (myself) who provides a warm, safe environment while supporting you in a non-judgmental manner. Counseling can help both children and adults develop or enhance problem-solving skills, and to cope with stress and a variety of emotional as well as behavioral issues. My goal is not to make decisions or solve individuals' problems, but to gently guide them into naturally making choices that are right for them, their children, and family.

During therapy sessions, aside from life stressors we address people pleasing, setting boundaries, family dynamics, self-worth, and childhood wounds.
We specialize in working with women who struggle with being the Good Girl. A "Good Girl" can be the current role of a child/adolescent or the Inner Child of an adult who filled this role growing up. She has a strong desire to be validated, valued, and approved of by others. She seeks this approval by meeting all expectations to the point of suppressing parts of their identity and emotions, conforming, and/or prioritizing the needs of others over self. The Good Girl is constantly pouring from an empty cup because she has been taught that this is how she will receive love.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my approach is systemic, collaborative, and integrative, with you—the Journeyer—at the heart of every step.
Change is a constant in life, often catching us off guard and leaving us feeling out of sync. Whether we're questioning if we changed too soon, resisting change, or simply unaware that change is necessary, this discord can lead to emotional and physical difficulties. We might find ourselves in unfamiliar territory or uncertain of how to navigate our current circumstances. As your Therapist, or as I like to call myself, your Journey Agent, I'm here to guide you to your desired destination, even if that destination is finding peace in where you are right now.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
