Marina is a supportive, experienced family counselor dedicated to helping kids and adults recognize, reduce, and manage anxiety.
Through working with children, adolescents, and adults, Marina is often approached by parents who have a concern about their child. Contemporary parenting is challenging. In the Internet Age, it can also be isolating, as parents may compare their children and family to idealized social media versions of peer families. If left unchecked, anxiety can take hold of one’s body and mind with inevitable repercussions on the family system. Working with Marina, families can learn to move past negative cycles of blame, guilt, and stress and toward more positive responses such as appropriate validation and support.

Since then, I've had the privilege of working with clients of all ages, offering individual and family therapy as well as parenting coaching.
Hi! I'm Abolee, a therapist at Mountain View Therapy. I believe that we all make meaning of our lives through telling stories about who we are and how the world perceives us. Sometimes our stories paint pictures that connect us with happiness and excitement, but other times our stories are taken over by problems in our lives, such as fear, anxiety or depression. Oftentimes these problems gain power through the support of restrictive cultural discourses and societal norms. Through Narrative Therapy, I strive to help my clients deconstruct these discourses to reclaim their stories and empower them to lead the lives they envision.

I wanted to get into the mental health field from a young age, as I was always surrounded by friends and family who struggled with mental health.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

I can help an individual or family adjust to life situations and cope with mental health flare-ups.
My ideal patient comes with an open mind to participate in talk therapy and narrative therapy. Ready to start a process - not necessarily eager to engage but wanting to make a change. They are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Do you think you may have ADHD or Autism? Have you struggled to assert boundaries at work, with family, & partners? Have you felt curious about exploring different pronouns and gender identity? Do you feel bad that you have a disability and don't know how to tell your friends that you can't do certain activities? You may have goals to tell your friends your preferred pronouns. Goals to get a diagnosis for your disability & curious about medication, goals to reevaluate your relationship with cannabis/alcohol. You may feel shame & anger about your childhood & the way your parents handled your behavior.

My name is Daniel Quinn, LICSW and I have been a psychotherapist for more than 35 years. I provide both individual and couple's therapy. I use evidence-based methods to work with my clients on achieving their desired goals. In couples therapy, I find the Gottman Method and family-of-origin approaches to be very effective. For issues around sexuality in a relationship, I find the Sensate Focus method to be very helpful. In individual therapy, I use the appropriate method to match the struggles and goals of each client.

Your life is a constant juggle, a never-ending to-do list. College, work, family, & unexpected life shifts—your plate is full to the brim. Sometimes, it feels like you're drowning in responsibilities. The weight of it all can be suffocating, leaving you utterly exhausted. You've become a master at putting others' needs first, but who's taking care of you? You keep telling yourself, "It'll be okay," while pushing down the mounting pressure, but deep inside, you're struggling. You wear a brave face but you long for a moment to pause, to be heard, to acknowledge that it's okay to not be okay.

I would work with the client through talk therapy to identify family relationships/family dynamics and provide empathy to explore and process what they believe are healthy attachments and relationships and why.
The ideal client would finally be open to change and hope to have better interpersonal relationships. This can be a client who struggles with their anxiety, possibly has poor attachment styles, and struggles with holding meaningful relationships (romantic, platonic, familial). Their goals would be identifying healthy boundaries and healthy responses, increasing effective communication skills, and identifying past relationships/present relationships in order to identify patterns/habits.

My name is Jenna Heroux. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who uses a client-centered, feminist approach to support clients on their journey to wellbeing and growth. My approach is primarily feminist but is informed by other approaches as well, such as psychodynamic, existential, and family systems theories. Holding the client with unconditional positive regard, I seek to understand them from their own value system and sense of personal empowerment. We will work collaboratively to identify targets for treatment, while activating personal choice and self-compassion.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
