Whether you’re working through anxiety, family dynamics, or just trying to find peace within yourself, I’ll support you in discovering your authentic self and learning to trust your internal guide.
As the eldest child of Sudanese immigrants, I know what it feels like to carry the weight of expectations—trying to be perfect while also supporting your family. Navigating the challenges of cultural identity, family pressures, and feeling misunderstood can be overwhelming, especially when you can’t find a therapist who relates to your experiences. That’s why I’m passionate about offering a space where you feel seen and heard, whether you're facing similar struggles or simply seeking personal growth and healing.

When you are ready, I look forward to walking this journey together with your family towards a new wellness that includes greater strength and resiliency.
My mission is to guide children, parents and families towards an increase in strength and resiliency. Teaghlach (pronounced /chye-lukh/) means family in Irish Gaelic. Family is a subjective term, meaning there is no “normal” when it comes to identifying what a family means to you. Strength and resiliency comes from families of all shapes and sizes. Whether you are looking for support for your child dealing with anxiety, behavior or self-esteem, or for yourself, individually or along with your partner, to grow in your relationships and skills, I hope that you find Teaghlach Counseling to be the support your family is looking for.

If you or someone you love is experiencing sleepless nights and stressful days due to the grief and trauma of family separation contact my office for an evaluation.
Do you have stress and anxiety related to a pending divorce, infidelity, pornography addiction, drugs/alcohol, or violence? Often these "adult" issues become problematic in households where children are involved. Are your children caught in the middle? Poor grades and oppositional/defiant behaviors can result from differing parenting styles or other conflicts between adults in the home. I understand the difficulty of seeking help in situations where feelings of embarrassment, guilt, anger, fear, or shame are involved, and assist my clients in resolving them.

I have received certifications for EMDR, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Sex Therapy.
When a new client first walks through my office door, one of the initial things I tell them is that by seeking help they have already solved a good portion of their issue. The fact that you have enough courage, strength, humility and self awareness to seek help is a great place to start. It has been an honor for more than 20 years to serve couples and individuals who are struggling with infidelity, sex addiction, substance addiction, intimacy anorexia and intimacy issues. I have also helped men with masculinity issues, intimacy issues and understanding their purpose in life, relationships and community.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
